The money I pencilled in for a Lancs membership this year has been blown on flights to Barca... guess it'll be a few days county championship games and the Twenty20 again for me!

How many times have i thought that his will be our year? Lanc's fans are a little bit like Liverpool fans in that respect.

Brad Hodge should be a good acquisition and Stuart Law is the right man for captain.

Would be nice to win a Lords final, we have not done that for years.

Hodge's range of strokes have earned him a lucrative contract

Lancashire will be without Australian batsman Brad Hodge for the next five weeks after he agreed a deal to join the Indian Premier League.

The 33-year-old is to join the Kolkata Knight Riders, but Lancashire have decided not to seek a replacement.

"I'm still in shock at the opportunity that has been presented," said Hodge.

"Twenty20 is a format I really enjoy and to be part of the inaugural IPL tournament is something most cricketers would find hard to turn down."

He added: "It's been an extremely difficult decision to make, but Lancashire have been very understanding of my situation and I hope to repay them on the field when I return."

Hodge joined the Red Rose county in 2004 after captaining Leicestershire to victory in the previous season's Twenty20 Cup final.

Lancashire chief executive Jim Cumbes described him as "arguably one of the best Twenty20 players in the world".

He continued: "Although it's disappointing to be losing a player of his calibre for part of our season, we are very lucky at Lancashire to have depth in our squad and this is a great opportunity for someone else to step up to the plate."

Hodge will join compatriots Ricky Ponting and David Hussey in the Kolkata squad, which is coached by another Australian, former national team boss John Buchanan.

Andrew Flintoff picked up two more wickets but Steven Croft was the hero as Lancashire beat holders Durham by five wickets in a rain-hit encounter.

In a match reduced to 23 overs per side by heavy morning rain, Flintoff bowled with hostility and accuracy to claim 2-13 from five as Durham made 151-7.

Kyle Hogg ousted Paul Collingwood first ball thanks to a fine catch at slip.

Flintoff made 11 from 10 balls but was caught in the deep, Croft hitting the final ball from Graham Onions for six.

Michael Di Venuto and captain Dale Benkenstein, who were both dropped early in their innings, revived Durham with a stand of 61 in eight overs.

Flintoff caught Benkenstein in the deep, then dislodged Di Venuto for 66, uprooting his middle stump with two overs remaining.

England fast bowler Steve Harmison dismissed opener Gareth Cross in the first over of Lancashire's reply, Collingwood taking a superb catch at backward point.

Mal Loye kept the home side ahead of the rate before he was smartly taken at the second attempt by Phil Mustard.

Flintoff came to the crease with 42 needed from five overs, but after one trademark drive down the ground to the boundary off Neil Killeen, he perished trying to hit Collingwood over the top.

Pakistan batsman Mohammad Yousuf, who only arrived in the country on Friday, made an assured 32 before falling late on, leaving 12 needed from the final over.

Croft took a step down the wicket to seamer Onions and launched a high drive over extra cover to win the match in memorable fashion.

Brilliant ending. I wish I lived nearer Manchester so I could watch more games. I was checking the scores update on the BBC website and after 22.5 overs of our innings we needed 6 to win from one ball. "No chance", I thought as I slunk off to the kitchen to clean the cooker....

Oh dear. Two losses to Yorkshire in 3 days (in 20/20 - so it doesn't really count).

Anyway, Flintoff made his first team comeback today. Didn't bowl, took a great catch to dismiss Rudolph, and was out for a golden duck.

I'm not sure I've ever seen Flintoff make a run in one day / twenty over form of the game!

I bagged myself a 3 for the price of 5 set of Twenty20 tickets for all Lancs home games. They've basically thrown away the last two games. I'm afraid I jinxed it against Durham, I commented after 3 balls of Du Plessis' 3rd over, late in the game when they needed something daft like 15 an over to win, that he'd bowled very well for a part timer, even if he conceeded 3 sixes off his final balls. He promptly went and conceeded 16 runs off them, and Durham capitalised to take it. Classic smash and grab, they'd hardly been in the game all afternoon / evening

Two crunch games to come against Notts home and away, need to take points from those. Top two go through automatically, best two 3rd placed out of three divisional groups join them. Lancs fall to fourth, their great start gives them hope still though

Sajid has been class of late.
Strangely it's Lancs batting that's pretty much let 'em down all season, normally there strong point.
3 wins at the start means winning the last two should see them through, although Notts are handy.
