Massive controversy at England vs New Zealand ODI.

Collingwood's position as Captain will come under threat for this.

He should've let it slide, and furthermore was he taken out intentionally? It is certainly being claimed so.

Controversy at The Oval! Elliott dabs the ball down in front of him and Mills goes haring down the pitch. Elliott hesitates before crashing into Sidebottom, Bell picks the ball up, throws to the bowler's end and KP whips the bails off... pick the bones out of that. The Kiwis are absolutely fuming up on the balcony, they clearly think that was against the spirit of the game - Elliott was, after all, on the deck clutching his leg when the bails were removed. One thing's for certain, KP's no Paolo Di Canio... that one's going to run and run...

Whether he was or he wasn't, Collingwood showed no class at all. I don;t like this 'win at all cost' bullshit. That's definitely not cricket.

The umpire even walked up to him apparently and said like "You're not actually going to claim this are you?".

Would we have wanted to win like that?

Collingwood should come out and apolgise pretty sharpish once the game is over.

Reminds me of when Pollock knocked in to Pietersen in the 20/20 world cup, I still believe that was intentional. Haven't seen this incident though, why is it Collingwood who is taking all the blame? I know he's captain and all, but anything specific?

It shouldnt have been out. Simple.

However I dont blame Collingwood, I cant see how he has to make the decision whether to give him out or not!!! The umpire should have stepped in, said 'not out' instead of bottling it.

Collingwood has apologised and Vettori has accepted it apparently.

Pretty gutting day of cricket all round really.

Dunno about Pointing but I remember Cronje withdrawing the appeal for a similar situation once.

By the laws of the game it was out. However, it was against the spirit of cricket. Benson asked Collingwood to withdraw his appeal, but he didn't. And captains have the power to recall batsmen who have been given out. . . so he had enough to time to make the right decision.

What a fuck up by England in the end anyway. Justice done.

Vettori gave Collingwood the cold shoulder at the end too.
