It has replaced the anti-Yankees mantra. Bet you didn't mind the anti-Yankee talk.

Fuck the Yankees.

I backed the Sox for the WS at 14s last year when they were 3-1 down against the Indians. I`m gonna do the same before tomorrow`s game.

I could take losing this if it was just down to the fact that they had far better starting pitching - Beckett is hurt after all. But the fact that the Red Sox pitchers are making geeks like BJ Uptona and Carlos Pena look like Babe Ruth is really fucking me off.

I don't like the yankees, but I approve of them more than I do the red sox because it makes me laugh to see them not even make the playoffs. I do respect jeter though. He fucked mariah carey. That scores him points in my book.

Tampa winning the World Series would be the biggest rags-to-riches story in baseball history. Bigger than the Amazing Mets, bigger than any last-to-first champion (Twins in 91 and probably a few more). Bigger than Boston ending their curse or the ChiSox winning in 2005. Bigger than the Cubs winning it if they ever do. And don't even bring up the two purchased Marlins championships or the D'Backs fluke in 2001 (not to mention MLB co-signing a loan so the club could meet operating expenses in 2000).

If Rays management is willing to cough up the dough this club is poised to win for the next 5-10 years. A dynasty built within. Heard on the radio that the Rays farm system has so much talent right now that nine minor league pitchers are major league ready for 2009. Nine! Most clubs are fortunate to have one or two ready for major leagues the following year.

The Marlins were pretty amazing after they won in 97' they sold their whole team, and then won it again over the Yankees in 2003

I've just watched the match from about the 4th inning, not knowing the score. Absolutely incredible comeback! Anything could happen now. Two more attempts with homefield advantage, but how do you come back from having effectively booked your place in the World Series, only to see it slip spectacularly through your hands?

Personally felt Kazmir should have stayed for another inning. It's not like he was going to pitch in 2-3 days. He would have had a full week's rest before the WS started. He was cruising. I know TB has a fantastic bullpen but when your starter is cruising you leave him in until he gets into trouble. Up 7 runs he had plenty of room to make a couple mistakes.

Comparing the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with Manchester United is fucking pathetic, you are comparing one of the most storied and popular sporting franchises in the world to the Devil Rays possibly one of the worst franchises in baseball let alone sporting history. I hope Philadelphia beat them, just to put a frown on your face.

I said "Tampabay", wasn't particularly referencing just the Rays. Having lived here nearly a decade and being an avid sports fan I have enjoyed a Superbowl win, a Stanley Cup, and now the Rays are on roll, plus the Storm for what it counts.

I was lucky enough to be born a born an bred Mancunian that as also enjoyed many great games and championships with United. There is very little difference in the feelings I experienced tonight or when the Bucs won the SB, and when United win a trophy. OK, 1993 was a bit special after 26 years without a title but most of the other successes are comparable.

AND BTW - learn to distinguish between flippant sarcastic posts and serious analogizes.

I hate Arena Football, such a cheap ripoff of the NFL. Tampa Rays are probably favorites; that said the Bucs arent going anywhere

I don't love Arena football but after the real NFL season is over its a welcome distraction if we want to get out of the house on a Sunday afternoon. The Storm play next to a load of bars and restaurants down by the water. The tickets are practically free and the Stadium is a good place to visit.

I wouldn't write the Bucs chances off. No one in the NFC looks particularly intimidating. The Bucs are young and getting better, the O-line is looking pretty good, and the D is regaining its former nasty. Of course people like to write them off, that left a lot with egg on their faces in 2003.

This years Bucs are a pretty balanced team. The investment in O-line draft picks is really paying off. They are running the ball well and seem to be hitting a little passing from now Gracia is back, and they still have Galloway to come back from injury. The defense is dependable and ball hungry. Nothing like the 2003 team but they were a little special.

The NFC looks like a coin flip at this point and who knows what could happen if the SB ended up being HFA.

Were the fans coming to the games before the success? I think not. I went to a Rays v Red Sox game at the Trop in 2005 and it was 70% Boston.

Like it or not, United is definitely a sports franchise. Anything organization which exists for the purpose of making a profit is a business. The profit first mentality has been in professional football (and really in almost every professional sport) for a long time.
