Not really UFC, but Kimbo won his MMA debut against Bo Cantrell, as big a can as there is in MMA, in 19 seconds by KO.

UFC 78 - Validation

Unlike a lot of MMAers I havent written Bisping off remotely although I think he is the underdog (but hey this is 2007!!) But if he wants to win he has to play it smart and take a leaf out of Randy's or Machida's book on fight strategy....

1) Keep Rashad at distance - I think The Count has (just about) the better all round striking of the two.

2) Keep Rashad moving - Rashad is definitely the more explosive and powerful but therefore conversely his cardio is not upto Mike's standard..... keep him moving and tire him out and poss go for the kill in the 3rd round.

3) Dont be afraid of the ground - Bisping has really quite a good JJ game and he shouldnt be afraid to use it if given the opportunity....... just rememer to stay off your back and avoid the LNP King!!

4) Focus, focus, focus........ sometimes Bisping has a tendency to lose the plot a bit and start swinging randomly - gotta keep a level head.

Do the biz Mike for the UK and put that fuck down and out!!!

He has a chance, but he has to fight a perfect fight. No mistakes or it could be over, like when he luckily escaped against Sinosic when he got caught in the kimura (on that occasion luckily he had beaten Sinosic so bad in the first round he was able to get out of it).

I like Bisping, he's a good showman. He's just very rough around the edges, but training with Rampage will certainly help him hone his skills.

Definitely.... Bisping has all the skills to make it, he has a well rounded base to his game. He does tend to lose focus though - like I said he needs to take a leaf out of Randys book - get a strategy and stick to it, dont get all emotional and start swinging unecessarily or going for stupid subs.

Some fighters listen to the crowd too much or get to into the whole "If he wants to stand up and bang, I game...." bollox...... tactics, tactics, tactics.

Couture Vs Gonzaga = case in point.

For the UK Mike...... get the win and do us proud.

Decent PPV tonight. A couple of good KOs. Bisping v Evans was OK.

Don't worry I won't spoil it for those that didn't watch it yet....

Well he is an undefeated Chute Boxe fighter. That's probably the best or second best camp in the world, with Wandy, Shogun, A. Silva, Ninja and others that have come out of there.

Not remotely suprised by the Silva vs Houston fight...... everyone on MMA forums has been harping on about him but I knew that as soon as someone with half a braincell came along and realised that his ground game was piss poor and that if the fight went past 3 mins he would gas abysmally....... he's be toast..... and he was. If Sakara and Jardine had done their homework properly instead of listening to their ego he'd have been history a long time ago.

Gutted for Bisping - close fight though and I think Mike is beginning really to come along quite nicely. I actually think he comes out of it with more credibility than Evans and in the long run (if he stays at LHW) will be be much the better fighter. Just needs to put the fine touches on his TKD (much improved BTW) and learn to exploit his great cardio by pushing the pace more - shouldve finished Evans in the 3rd round.... that man looked gassed after 5 mins!!!

Karo coming along very nicely - dont think he's got the tools quite yet though but very tasty indeed!

Totally Agree. I could never figure out why Sakara didn't just go for the takedown as soon as the bell rang.

I was surprised at how bad Evans conditioning was. Half way through the first round he was breathing heavy. I thought that would have been Bisping's signal to push the pace. I think Bisping is better suited for MW then LHW as he is a pretty small LHW.

Karo is a deluded cunt. Says he wants to drink GSPs blood and that he was winning their fight before GSP stopped him.

Yup bizarre..... the bloke is a BJJ black belt FFS!! I swear some fighters are idiots - their gameplans are so shite..... they get sucked in to the whole "If he wants to bang, lets bang...." nonsense, stick to your strengths boys.....

Yeah, it was announced yesterday that GSP is replacing Serra and they're going to fight for an interim title at UFC 79.

Tough match...... Hughes aint gonna try and trade this time - gonna get back to basics. GSP is great but when it comes to the ground game very few can live with Hughes 'Power Wrestle & BJJ' style.

Irrespective of who wins I really want to see Hughes Vs Serra - would be hysterical if Hughes won via spinning back fist!!!

Well I don't see Hughes winning. GSP out wrestled Koschek, who is the best wrestler at WW, and we've seen what GSP will do to him standing up.

That said I still want to see the Hughes-Serra fight for the same reasons as you. Hoefully it will happen after GSP beats them both.

Anybody watch the TUF finale??

Great fight between Huerta and Guida.

Danzig showed his class. A guy of his calibre should have never been in this competition. He has been a champion in multiple organizations, fought in Pride. Most of the guys in the competition didn't have more than 12 fights.....

Huerta got a reality check, but I'm glad he won. I'm thinking he'll have a hard time against the likes of Sherk and Penn, but he's defo good and my favorite in the division.

We'll see how good the Muscle Shark is when he isn't on the roids...

They officially stripped him of his title today as well.

See Bisping has gone down to MW..... good move IMO, 10-15lbs too light for LHW - hes really beginning to smooth out the rough edges and like Franklin will be huge for a MW but unlike Franklin because of his kickboxing background will know how to implement and defend against the clinch!!!

Rumoured to be fighting in UFC82..... as it appears the card is gonna be a MW heavy one.

He was a very small LHW. He should have moved down after the Hamill fight. Good move.

One thing that Bisping needs to do IMO is modify his training regime. At the moment he is a cardio machine but I think hes gone too far with it - his level of cardio is appropriate for 5 round championship bouts but not 3 rounders which he is fighting at the moment.

You could see it vs Evans that Mike could easily go 2 more rounds whereas Evans gassed in Round 2..... prob was Mike didnt push the action like he shouldve in the 3rd. Needs to cut back a bit on the cardio training and focus more on his power/strength training - would give him a better balance in 3 rounders. You can see at present because his muscular endurance/cardio has shot up he's lost KO power in his hands and feet...... you can see a similar issue with Tito but whereas Tito can get away with it because he is quite large for a LHW, Mike struggles because he is relatively small for LHW.

Obviously now that he has gone down to MW this will alter things but I still thinks he needs to remember the differences between 3 round and 5 round wars!!

Yeah, I'd agree with you on that. He had definitely lost some of the power he had in the Sinosic fight by the time he reached Hamill and especially Evans. He should be a pretty powerful MW, but I think he really needs to continue working on his BJJ and wrestling. I think with a little better technique and take down defence he would have beaten Evans.

Looking forward to UFC 79...

Machida vs Soku

Fascinating match up. The worrying thing for Soku is that Machida is an excellent tactician and is comfortable going the distance..... Lyoto will know that as soon as this fight goes past Rd 1 then Soku's gas tank begins to empty rapidly.

Lyoto will play his game and certainly wont be forced into "engaging" if he doesnt want to...

Nevertheless tough fight to call - could go either way.... Rd 1 will be key. Machida will definitely be in trouble if he tries to stand and bang with Soku or gets trapped against the cage.

Hope Lyoto wins - I do love to see an intelligent fighter..... so often a fighter loses purely because he hasnt done his homework properly and/or doesnt stick to his gameplan. Lyoto needs to set out to take him the distance - dont listen to Dana babbling on about "exciting fighters"....... people remember winners, not "exciting losers"!!

Lyoto via UD

Silva vs Liddel

Really hope Silva takes this and actually I think he will quite comfortably. Liddel likes people to try and take him down... plays right into his hands. When he is faced with someone more than capable of standing with him, things can go horribly wrong.....

Silva via Rampage strategy.

Plus a Liddel win really makes the LHW division messy and congested, he aint getting a title shot in the near future - would be best for the division if he gets KTFO!!

Alrighty then, GSP and Hughes will brawl it out, GSP for the win, but I think it'll be close. I want Silva to destroy Liddell, but I think it'll be Liddell's comeback fight after his previous 2 losses.

It'll be good to see Manny Gamburyan fighting again after his "loss" to Nate Diaz. He's a fucking beast.

My head says GSP but my heart Hughes...... I want to see Hughes vs Serra sooooo badly - God I hate Serra..... jumped up little cuntface!!

Hoping that Silva KTFO Liddell....... Chucks days are over and a Silva vs Rampage III would be great. Chuck has flattered to deceive for a while now.....overated IMO.

Sucks about the Silva - Liddell fight, but I was extremely pleased with the GSP fight. He totally outclassed Hughes, which made me kind of sad to not see him at his best.
