I think I saw Gallinari enter the MVP power rankings on NBA.com this week. That can't be fun to watch from New York.

Amazing to me that the Knicks could be half a game ahead of Sacramento for all the trouble the latter has suffered!

Bottom of the League:

New York - [9-15]
Sacramento - [8-15]
Toronto - [8-16]
New Jersey - [8-17]
Detroit - [6-20]
Washington - [4-20]
New Orleans - [4-20]
Charlotte - [3-21]

To be fair, all the Knicks losses I've seen have been very close, it's tempting to say they're one good player or 3 role players away from being a top team.

Even I won't pretend those two teams should ever be that close. That's underachievement if I ever saw it with my own eyes. Apparently with the league's easiest schedule as well.

Cousins has been on a tear, just put down 28 and 19 on the Hornets, with 3 blocks. I can't say I noticed anything amazing when I've watched him, but I guess this explains the hype!

Another loss for the Lakers, currently 6th seed in the West and I doubt we'll get higher than 4 this year.

The bigger story is Kobe passing Shaq in the all-time scorers list, bet he enjoyed that. Goudelock got 9 pts, he seems to be a solid option off the bench.

Clips jumping up the list, Denver from 3rd to off the chart. I have to say it's great for Philly to be relevant again, it's a great basketball town.

Oklahoma 19-5
Chicago 21-6
Miami 18-6
Philly 18-7
Indiana 16-7
LA Clippers 15-7
San Antonio 17-9
Atlanta 16-9

Billups is out for the season, Randolph looks like me may not be back till the playoffs which Memphis will likely miss without him and Brook Lopez is behind schedule.

Though in the feel good story of the year, Michael Redd is doing a Grant Hill and coming back after many years of rehab, also with Phoenix.

Billups is a big loss for the Clippers. There have been quite a few injuries in the NBA recently and to important players - the stupid schedule has done that and if players keep getting injured then the quality in the playoffs will suffer.

Orlando were very good with their 3pt shots. LeChoke had 2pts in the second half. Dwight was a beast as usual, why won't the Lakers trade for him??

The back-to-backs are hurting Miami badly, as I expected.. True they are probably the most athletic team in the league, BUT they depend on their athleticism more than any other team, so when they are tired, they are an average team..

Jeremy Lin is another feel good story for the Knicks, sitting on their bench behind 3 other point guards and manages to get a game halfway through the season, which he takes with both hands and wins almost single handed.

Looking at his game log he played a total of 22 minutes all season before being called on against the Rockets on January 28th. In 20 minutes he shot 3-9 with 9 points, but also 6 assists and 3 boards.

Then he got 6 minutes against Detroit but managed 4 points and 4 assists, with a board and a steal! Strangely, this got him 0 minutes against Chicago, followed by a quiet 7 minutes against Boston.

Then he exploded, getting 36 minutes against NJ, 10-19 shooting for 25 points, 7 assists, 5 boards, 2 steals and only 1 turnover. Okay, it's NJ, but wow. Not to mention the fact he's representing a huge country that loves basketball that's had little success there.

Next a strong Utah team, but he got even better, 45 minutes with 10-17 shooting for 28 points, 8 assists, 2 steals and boards, unfortunately with 8 turnovers, but also a win, just like against the Nets.

Then tonight he does it again, 23 points on 9-14, 10 assists, 4 boards, a block, a steal, and only 2 turnovers. Since NJ he's averaging 25.3 points, which would be 4th in the league in scoring, 8.3 assists, 6th in the league, and 1.67 steals, 14th behind LeBron and ahead of Brandon Jennings. Not bad for the 4th string point guard, I'd be surprised to hear about another 4th string point guard coming in and playing so well in the history of the NBA/ABA.

Horray! I'll even cheer for Duke if they're beating UNC!

I looked at the score, down 7 with 90 seconds left or so, I didn't give them a chance, good for them.

Just watched NY v Utah, this Lin kid is a hell of a player. Chandler was in foul trouble all game, only played 22 minutes, but they ran the pick and roll beautifully against Utah, Lin threw some extremely impressive passes.

If one were so inclined, they could download the torrent for the game on this site.

Any PG who can run a proper pick and roll offense will come good especially with D'Antoni as the coach.

I'm just surprised they took this long to start giving him proper playing time.

ANd Lin's Taiwanese American, not Chinese.

Taiwan is part of the Republic of China, so he's both, yes?

Depending on who you ask, most of them don;t see themselves as part of China though.

Edit: Although we might be making a huge fuss over nothing as technically he's an American with Taiwanese heritage.

He's the first American born player of Asian decent in the NBA, if that's worth mentioning.

If he's anything like most kids of immigrants I know, he's much more into being American than Taiwanese or Chinese.

Probably the most important game of the season for the Kings tonight despite having little chance of winning. Sellout crowd against OKC on national tv less than a week before the most crucial city council vote in the process of building a new entertainment and sports complex.

And of course the Lakers game goes into overtime. Always screwing us over.

Lakers beat Boston! Great game to watch, had the atmosphere of a playoff game and played with good intensity. Very enjoyable.

One of Kobe's shots in the 3rd quarter was

They didn't even bother guarding Rondo for most of the night. Pau had a decent night but missed a few open shots late in the game but the block at the end was crucial.

Lakers will retire Shaq's number next season. Great gesture for one of the all time greats and someone who was vital to our 3-peat.

Great to hear, he completely deserves it, he was awesome in his prime.

The Lakers have had a proud tradition of great centers: Mikan, Chamberlain, Abdul-Jabbar and Shaq.

Valiant effort, but looks like the Kings are letting his one slip away right at the end.

I was debating whether to post the old "game of runs" cliche when you made that post about the game slipping away, but I was afraid I would jinx it.

But yeah everything's changed. The whole culture and effort in general has become a lot more team-focused and Keith Smart is a legitimate teacher of the game and a standup guy that the entire team can get behind. Paul Westphal was definitely a coach that demanded a lot out of his team and just stood back and facepalmed or punished people when things didn't work out, which was most of the time. Smart actually makes an attempt to fix the problems he sees. Strangely enough, the most glaring difference in this team for me is the fact that you can actually tell this team is running plays now instead of just 1-4 flat sets.

If you were to tell me that at the end of this game, we would have won four out of our last five games, I might believe you, but I wouldn't flipped the results for this game and the Minnesota one. Tough schedule to start out the season and the coaching change came at a time where the team didn't have a lot of time to practice to adjust to anything new that Keith Smart was trying to do. But now they've had some time off to get things sorted and the results are showing a lot of promise. This particular starting lineup: Evans, Thornton, Salmons, Cousins, and Thompson are actually 6-1 this season. If you take a look at the teams the Kings have beaten, you'll find names like the Lakers, Blazers, Pacers, and Spurs as well as a team that, before tonight, had the best record in the league.

Either way tonight was never supposed to be about winning the game. It was supposed to be about the fans taking our one chance at getting national attention and showing why this team still belongs in Sacramento. The win just amplified everything beyond belief and the rest of the nation backed us up. TNT got their facts dead wrong. That "rejection" they were talking about was a measure that would have put the funding plan the city council is voting on next Tuesday to a public vote which would probably kill it. Kings fans were already going to show up to that meeting in droves, but after a win like tonight they have yet another talking point to add to a long list of reasons why this entertainment and sports complex deal needs to get done. Fans crashed the last meeting and invited the council to show up to tonight's game. I wonder how many of them (besides KJ) took them up on the offer.

Edit: I've been watching this team since 1995 and I've seen a lot of things both exciting and depressing, but right now I honestly feel like the stars all aligned tonight. Twenty years from now if the team is still in Sacramento and I'm taking my kids to games I'll be able to tell them about tonight. It's up there with all of my favorite moments in the team's history.

Well, that's a great story, I'm very happy to hear that, personally I like the Kings in Sacramento and considering they had the loudest stadium in the Bibby days I suspect they can get the fans back if they continue in this direction.

Cousins looks like a star out there, and Thornton as well. If Evans can get back to his best then they can certainly cause a lot of problems. But the thing I noticed watching the last 10 minutes was some decent defense! OKC had little luck getting inside, the Kings looked motivated on both ends.

Also have to say I love the black jerseys.
