On a side note, good fight from Rich. I was watching the post fight with john mccarthy and randy cotoure and there was talk of GSP maybe, again maybe moving up to face silva. How do you think that would go? |

It was a good night for UFC fans.
George St Pierre v Matt Serra GSP looked awesome against Matt Serra. He showed why he is (in my opinion) the second best pound for pound fighter in the UFC behind Anderson Silva. He changed his game taking down Serra easily over and over again and showing great ground & pound. He totally dominated Serra and showed that Serra's last victory was a fluke. I'm not really a fan of Serra. He is all talk and very little action. I can see him moving down a weight. He is nothing compared to GSP. He showed great class at the end of the fight which I didn't think he had. He needs to win his next fight. Rich Franklin v Travis Lutter Frankin was tremendous. He totally dominated Lutter. He was badly caught in an armbar but an amazing counter got him out of it. His cardio was far better than Lutter and that was what won it for him. What is next for him? Another shot at Silva? I can't see him winning that one. Ace is probably the second best middleweight in the world but isn't near Silva's class. Travis Lutter - for fuck sake this guy should get on a treadmill now and again. He obviously does no aerobic training at all. All his big talk counted for nothing. His record in the ufc was 2-3. That is not good. He reckons Anderson Silva will never beat him again. I think he's right. He will probably never get a chance to fight Silva again. I'd like to see him fight Yushin Okami. He would really have to improve his cardio for that. Michael Bisping v Charles McCarthy Bisping looked great. Middleweight is obviously the weight for him. He totally outclassed Charles McCarthy. There is nothing else to say about it. Maybe a fight against Franklin will be on the cards. I was very disappointed with McCarthy. Although "The Count" was dominating him, he didn't even defend himself towards the end. I don't think he is cut out for the top dogs of ufc. Nate Quarry v Kalib Starnes Quarry looked great considering it was his first fight in 2 years. His leg kicks were almost Jardinesque. The only disappointment was that he didn't knock out Starnes. He certainly deserved to. What the hell is Kalib Starnes even doing in the ufc? He ran around the cage like a frightened kitten. Even the Canadian fans were booing him. They were right. Why bother fighting in the ufc if you are just going to run away? One of the judges actually scored it 30-24. That's 10-8 in every round. I have never seen anybody so emphatically beaten on a decision. Mac Denzig v Mark Bocek A good fight that Denzig deserved to win. He was especially good in the second round. He doesn't have much charisma though which may lead to him not getting big fights within the UFC. Bocek did ok. He probably won the first round. He will come back even stronger. UFC 84 is next on 24th May. Penn v Sherk. I'm really looking forward to the Machida Ortiz fight. That could be fight of the night. |

I don't think their's any reason for Rush to move up though as he has still never even defended his title. 3 or 4 title defences and then I would expect it to happen. |

I would guess that him moving up might not be his choice, but a certain bald and annoying guy in a position of power's choice...

I rate Denzig. Stays really composed and doesn't have any obvious weakness. That Canadian kid fought a great fight and could easily have caused an upset. I would wager that Denzig will be getting a title-shot in the not too distant future.

He is a good fighter. A very good fighter. I would be worried though that his lack of charisma would stop him getting his chances. People like BJ Penn will always get title shots because they are popular and it would make more money for the UFC. Penn v Sherk will always make a lot more money that Danzig v Sherk. I know it's a cynical thought but the UFC is a business when it comes down to it and they will always want to make as much money as possible from a ppv. I hope Danzig gets a chance to fight some top oppostion though. I think he could do some serious damage.

The thing about Danzig is before he was on the Ultimate Fighter he had fought in Pride numerous times, was the KOTC champ, had fought world champions, etc. He was always going to win that competition and that was up a weight class. He will be a force in the LW division.

If Wayne Rooney could have run that fast with a broken foot we would have won the league weeks ago.
