Djokovic out. He never looked at the races today. Just a bad performance, he'll be back. Pleased for Safin though.

Safin wins after a double fault from Djoko.
He has been serving horridly today, totally off rythm. Shame to see him go out so early, but seeing Safin back in form again is fun as well. |

Great interview from Safin.
Reporter: With this form how far do you think you can go this year? Safin: I`m not sure, when I saw the set up and saw Djokovic`s name I didn`t look any further, so I don`t know who I`ll play next! Or something along that line. |

That's the thing, isn't it? He's so inconsistent that he could lose against Seppi quite easily. He's always been one of my favourite players on the tour, and I remember the commentators at the 2005 Aussie Open talking about how every player on the tour has their own favourite Safin story. Very funny bloke it seems.

Anyone know what Ana says when she wins a big point? Must be Serbian I guess.
Edit: She breaks and leads 4-2! On Safin, what is so frustrating is that he is so naturally talented, and really can beat anyone on his day (as proven over many years), however, he just doesn't consistently play to his best. Now obviously he has suffered injuries, and that's not his fault, but I just think it's a crime for him not to fulfill his potential because he has a bad attitude. |

Would have to agree with you to an extent Baz, she doesn't seem to have any smarts on the court, and her shot choice is nowhere near what it should be. Maybe she'll prove me wrong, bu I don't see her as a long term number 1 unless the women's game just stops producing players.

She might be 20, but she lacks all the killing instinct we saw from Graf, Hingis, Henin, Martina, Davenport, Seles and the 2 Williams sisters.
Feeble and sums up women's tennis at present. She just picks the wrong shots and anytime she forces her players brings up an unforced error. Jankovic, Sharipova are also in same boat. |
