You are borderline retarded if you think getting involved with the Manning hearing will help your movement. The US public are staunchly pro-military and Manning betrayed his oath and fellow service men and women. You only have to attend a sports event or travel through an airport to see how the military is revered.

Manning is one pony you shouldn't be backing, it will marginalize your movement even more.

You need to get your head out of the clouds, the Occupy movement is not in the mainstream media or publics minds. Actually NPR have pretty much stoppped running stories on Occupy. Just because a hand full of randoms turn up doesn't mean you are even getting the attention of a tiny percentage of the 310,000,000 pople in the US.

To be fair Dead Prez are ridiculous plack power anarchists. My only problem with Occupy is that it's far too willing to have any old people with any old anti-establishment views latch onto it.

Its a huge problem for them TBH. Many of these pople and the causes they are ltaching onto are going to alianate them from 95% of the poplutaion, if not more. That and a complete lack of any real clear polices.

Eh.. don't be jumping to any conclusions. Dead Prez simply performed at Occupy DC. Both Dead Prez and EmpowerDC seem to be far more radical than, even, Occupy. In fact, it looked like the political-director of SEIU organized this event... so, it was more of a Union and possible Occupy the Dream influenced these rappers to come to McPherson Square in DC.

mjs... You haven't been hot on the idea of the Occupy movement from the get-go. So, you can quit offering your bias to this conversation as if you know that you're talking about ~ because you do not. That much, I do know.

2.0 of the Occupy movement is slowly coming together. I know of at least 5 factions that are popping up media groups that will have some degree of influence... how much influence... we shall see. I will tell you this ~ two projects are coming along with an impressive package, once unwrapped.

I listen to NPR and sit with real people in meetings and conference calls. Your movement is in a tail spin, and jumping on the Bradley case or involving groups like Dead Prez will totally turn the overwhelming majority of Americans off.

Does anyone else predict that this movement will in the end be seen as a small, unsuccessful forerunner/pre-cursor to something bigger? Even if only in a very high school level standard, "turning point in history" sort of way.

I sincerely hope so.

They would be way more effective sticking to three or four core issues most Americans can empathize with. Pretty much everyone wants to see lobbyist's influence diluted, the rich pay more tax, and healthcare fixing. Those three things are a great start and would take a few years to make real changes to. The minute they start whining about student loans, and hanging off stuff like the Bradley case everyone will tune out.

They have completely stopped in England as well, I went to have a look at Occupy LSX six or so weeks ago now and it was land of the lunatics, not left wing, student union, trade union types - proper lunatics. In a city with dozens of university institutions there were no student unions making their presence known which itself is telling. There were posters everywhere not about austerity or the Eurozone but of Julian Assange, the integrity of the security services and absolutely random stuff like banning the BBC licence fee and handwritten Bob Dylan lyrics, not to mention a big 2Pac poster.

If RAWK was to organise a protest this is what it would probably look like, it was that bad.

Its a similar story here. The ones that represent the various groups on NPR have been an incoherent bunch of buffoons for the most part. I know the ones that gathered in Tampa had no fucking clue what they were really protesting about or how to fix the problems.

I watched the Occupy LSX general assembly on livestream, last night... They appeared to be on topic with corporate greed associated with politics.

When I was there the number of tourists and bystanders far outnumber protesters who were in a state of semi-hibernation, then the BBC cameras warm up to go live on air and all of a sudden they wake up and get their placards out and have a bit of a chant, the cameras turn off and it becomes sleepy again.

Our economy has tremendous problems, our total debt is far too great, our deficit is too large to maintain but drawing it down quickly is also problematic, the housing market is a major stain on our economy and has failed very badly, their are structural issues with regard to youth unemployment and the distribution of wealth is far too centralised to London, the home counties and the M4 corridor. These are all major issues, not to mention Europe, but I saw and heard nothing on these issues whilst I was there - it was mainly a bunch of conspiracy theorists wearing camoflage in a London thoroughfare.

Much of the stuff I have seen and heard in the US is similar, and average Americans I speak to are in agreement. What Bobs fails to see/understand is I am probably firmly entrenched in the 10-25% of Americans to the left of the political spectrum. If they are turning me off they really have major problems being a mainstream force.

Hello to my friends in the UK...

It had been vaguely explained to me by a London indy-journalist that it is forbidden in the uk for national law enforcement to coordinate crackdowns on the people of England on the local level. He told me that the Homeland Security coordination with mayors to crackdown on the Occupy camps throughout the United States would not be within legal bounds...

Is this true, in any possible way?

Does anyone have knowledge of the specific law or statute refering to the above mentioned?

I am in the process of drafting a letter to CIA director Leon Panetta and DHS director Janet Napolitano ~ to be sent to the NY Times, Washinton Post, and LA Times.

The poster designer decided to go with the slogan that I came up with.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...LgKO_blog.html

Occupy DC (McPherson) General Assembly had decided to embrace the call from around the country over the past couple weeks for an Occupy Congress through our General Assembly.

It will be the 4 month anniversary of Occupy Wall Street and it is the day Congress returns to session from their nearly two month winter break.

12 days prior to the first day of Occupy Wall Street

Here we have a photo of a mini-protest on Labor Day September 5th at the Jefferson Memorial. This was a group of Facebook people, no more than 30 people from MA, VA, NY, NJ, NC, PA, one guy drove all the way from Denver, CO, and even a couple guys from Bahrain.

It is surprising that the variety of signs are exactly what you would find at any other Occupy protest throughout the USA.

Globalrevolution’s OWS Livestream HQ in Bushwick is being evicted – RIGHT NOW | SUPERCHIEF

The Global Revolution collective have been covering Occupy Wall Street via live stream since the beginning. Originally based in Zuccotti Park, their base of operations have traveled as the Occupy movement’s locations have changed. Most recently, their base of operations was established in Bushwick, Brooklyn at 15-1 Thames Street.

5:48PM Update:13-1 resident Victoria Sobel has reported to the Atlantic Wire that “Vlad Teichberg and a guy named Spike, both of whom maintain the live feed aggregator, had been taken into custody by police, along with four or five others.”

from the article linked above:

But Sobel said that was just the start of the day’s conflict. Shortly after the confrontation, the police arrived. “Within the past hour, the police came in and removed people that were inside the studio,” she said. “I believe the police just began knocking on the door and saying they would kick the door down and saying they would arrest people on the spot.” The Global Revolution studio is now locked, Sobel said. The live feed has finished its Hawaiian broadcast and is playing a pre-recorded video. “The message is that even if they take the space, the [broadcast] will continue to be maintained,” Sobel said. But right now, it seems to be out of commission.

4:26PM Update: Those arrested have been taken to the 90th Precinct in Brooklyn located at Union St and Montrose Avenue.

4:11PM Update: A resident has confirmed 5 arrested, one of whom is Vlad Teichberg operator of the livestream. He also claims that police damaged camera equipment upon entering the building Tuesday afternoon.

Last night around 8 PM police and fire marshals showed up, entered the space without a warrant and notified the residents that they would be evicted today. Today around 3 PM, 13-1 Thames, half of the split-residence first floor of the building was evicted and sealed. Police warned that they “may return” later today to evict 15-1, the Occupy HQ.

Residents are reporting to Superchief that they suspect the order to vacate is a targeted attack – likely towards a Global Rev organizer Vlad Teichberg, and his 4-month pregnant wife. They report that they were able to remove an 800 pound server containing their video archives and their important documents last night.

Police did not specifically issue an order to vacate last night. Rather, they are enforcing a year-old order to vacate – which may or may not be selectively enforced now based on the Occupy presence in the space.

Residents of 13-1 are requesting people to come out and support them against eviction right now and tonight.

----------------

It is very possible Global Rev will be moving to Washington DC.

They've had a big dust up in Oakland again. They are getting lots of bad press and turning the general population against them. People still believe in some of the basic things that started the movement but it's gotten completely lost.

The People's Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.

Hello my fellow Redcaftians....

It's been a while since I've been around, I've been busy trying to create global mayhem. Ok, maybe not mayhem... as much as just shake up the system to get them to pay closer attention to the problems they are creating throughout the world.

My latest effort stems from a conversation in the Occupy camp at McPherson Square, Washington, D.C. with Pastor Brian Merritt and I had. Back in early December I suggested that Occupy Faith host an event in response to the 60th annual National Prayer Breakfast led by the C st 'The Family' neo-conservative fundamentalist christians.

We were able to come up with The People's Prayer Breakfast which was held at the exact same time as the National Prayer Breakfast, yesterday morning.

An Interfaith Call for Social Justice | The People's Prayer Breakfast

Here are some pictures of the event:
First Annual People's Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. 2012 | Facebook

Peoples Prayer Breakfast ~ Rev Tara James Lee and Andrea Palma - YouTube

...I will be back to explain more on Sunday. I am still very very busy between work and all this Occupy crap.

A review of the People's Prayer Breakfast:

God's Politics Blog | Sojourners: Celebrating 40 Years of Faith in Action for Social Justice

I remember a couple years ago suggesting to Sultan that it would be ideal of all religions could come together and bring the best of who they are for peace & justice...

Ta DA! Idea manifest into reality.

In other Occupy DC news:

- The two camps of McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza had been nearly raided this past week. The wonderful lawyer team we have here fought for our rights to continue and won. The group at McPherson popped up a monster tent over the statue of Gen. McPherson the day before the trial. We were all surprised the National Parks Service police didn't raid us after that stunt... ironically, the tent still skirts the monument. It is called 'The Tent of Dreams'. The NPS are still saying the protestors will not be permitted to sleep inside the tents. Tonight, we will be throwing a No-Slumbering Party at McPherson Square. ...and they said we would make it through the winter. Spring is right around the corner.

I have lots of photos on my computer at home. When I get home tomorrow, I will post a bunch of the photos or go to Occupied News Network's Facebook page.

Currently, I am in DC picking people up for my media group Occupied News Network. We Act Radio DC 1480 AM 6pm ET (a member of ONN) will have Lash, who was tased by the NPS a few days ago and Mike Paterson, an Occupier at McPherson who served as an interigator in Iraq.

Here are the videos related to the People's Prayer Breakfast:

*Occupy Faith Los Angeles has announced that they are organizing a People's Prayer Breakfast for a date to be determined in March.

**I am in talks with Occupy Faith Austin, TX about getting them to do a Prayer Breakfast, as well.

I didn't realize how little you need to earn to be a one percent'er. Anyone earning over $345k is is the top 1% of earners. A hell of a lot of people that have worked hard and took risk/loans to get where they are earn over that amount in the US. Many doctors would be in the top 1%.

I don't get why anonymous haven't destroyed all the credit records or something yet. Shutting down websites is great and all, but for the sort of talk in the video you'd think they could do anything they wanted with a computer.

No offense, of course, just asking! Don't make my credit even worse than it is, lurking anonymous member!

They don't 'hack' websites, they just flood them with too much traffic and cause them to temporarily shutdown.

Simples. They can't.

Their crowning achievements are basically flooding sites with traffic and shutting them down for a few hours, or maybe a day or two if they're really on their game.
