From what I've seen in the last, oh, 20 years it's business as usual then?

not everyone has hundreds of screaming girls whenever they appear anywhere, thats how they could tell the difference, they could have a lineup of all the beibers and walk them one by one through a room full of 14 year old girls, when they scream you know youve got him

Why did they throw his body into the sea?

I'm still not understanding that part

Buried at sea, to stop any grave becoming a site of pilgrimage.

So they could be all Godfather about it.

Word is they sent Al-Qeada a fish wrapped in newspaper, to let them know Osama sleeps with the fishes.

Islam also requires very quick burial, so it's apparently to prevent Muslim countries from getting upset that it's not observed. Or something.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's not underwater at the moment though.

I am sure pictures and the DNA evidence will be released over the coming days. In many ways, your reaction is one shared by people for thousands of years in relation to these types of events.

The most influential Islamic institution among Sunni Muslims condemns the sea burial of Osama bin Laden. Obama took pains to make sure that Osama would get a proper Islamic burial, but since he wanted to bury the body quickly (in accord with Islamic law) and couldn't find a country that would take the body (and probably also didn't want to create a place of pilgrimage and anti-American agitation), he buried him at sea. He was trying to show the Islamic world that the U.S. is not at war with Islam, but ended up enraging Muslims anyway -- demonstrating yet again that dhimmi pandering gets nowhere.
Not sure how true any of that is, but was all I could find to support it.

Mind you, according to conspiracy theories, he died 8 years ago:

Confirmation of DNA match is expected within the next hour apparently. Even if they release the DNA results, video & pictures of his body there will always be a few who refuse to believe it has happened.

Surely they just tied some weight to his body and chucked him into the sea so his body would never been found. The idea that a team of Navy Seals performed any sort of "proper Islamic burial" seems pretty ridiculous to me.

I thought most Muslims said he is not a proper Muslim anyway for advocating and orchestrating the mass murder of so many people. So how he is disposed of should not matter...

Who said it was the navy seals that did the burial?

They took him to Bagram Air Base, I'm sure they have Muslim Imams for the Muslim servicemen there...so easy for him to recite the religious prayers, before the SEALS took him out to sea and dumped him.

Also Sea Burials are permissible in Islam, in extenuating circumstances(obviously this isn't good enough an excuse as far as religion goes), but I get the feeling that's the least of his worries...

He has the blood of thousands and thousands on his hands, think God might be a bit more concerned with that, than whether his burial was to the letter of the law or not.

they've just had a guy on sky news a little while ago claiming to have a good source tell him that the seals didnt shoot him, he reckons he was shot by a bodyguard who was instructed to shoot him if he was under threat of capture

I did find it suspicious that he was shot in the head.

Soldiers don't do head shots, unless you're a sniper and conditions are favorable and it's the only shot you have that's Call of Duty stuff.

No not really, the world is a better place now he's dead. That's what people are celebrating and I can completely understand the relatives of those massacred enjoying a bit of revenge.

His supporters will view him as a martyr regardless who killed him. I think it's more important for the US that he died from a US bullet.

I always find it uneasy celebrating a persons death, at the same time I don't think there should be any sorrow for him considering he is responsible for so many innocent deaths.

In practice yes, but they will still have wanted to avoid shooting a possibly innocent woman to get him. Although in my eyes, if she was living with him she can't really call herself an innocent.
