Real Time Chat
I mentioned it in the newbs a while back, and they said you tried it before but it got invaded or whatever. Anyway, me and a couple other caf lads have a chat for during matches/matchdays mainly so we can chat in real time. Just wondering how you would feel about maybe a link in the matchday thread?
I think there's a way to shut the room down so people can't use it when there isn't a match or something (open 15mins before match, and then maybe close it 10 mins after the match? This way it wouldn't detract to much conversation away from the forum. |

Yes, we did try it a few years ago and it didn't work out.
As for your idea, the real time chat would compete with the pre and post match posts that take place in the match day threads and (after) in the United forum, so the likely answer is no. But that's not to say posters who want to real time chat can't do so away from the CAF. |

Don't think that's a good idea either.
I mean it's one thing to have a chat about the game with 10-20 people in some chat room but something completely different if a few hundred or even thousand people are chatting at the same time. |

It's pretty much real time chat as it is, particularly the matchday thread. It can be a bit of a pain when everyone is posting Goal! Goal! Goal! & my stream is 90 seconds behind the play.
Anyway, look, I'm typing and very very soon I'll be posting, real time! |

It wouldn't take away from the forum except on the matchday forums, which lets be honest, are impossible to follow anyway, or if you do, you just have like 50 posts in a row saying the same thing.
It'd just be next to impossible to keep conversations going with so many people always here, even if it was just exclusive to the mains. Easy to keep track of whats going and whos saying what when theres only like 10 of you, but 50? Yeah..... |

I might make a chat room somewhere and we can pass the password around the mains by PM. Can't hurt to see if it works?
Another forum I was on years ago had a chat window and it was brilliant fun, if anyone wanted to start the party they could bump the live chat thread and you could guarentee you'd have 10 or 15 in the convo within 5 minutes or so |

![]() It was of much better use when we were in the newbs because of the state match day threads can get in, up here there is less need for it. Plus it would really only work if there is no more than about 10 people in there, otherwise it would be really hard to keep up with it all. |

Thing is, on IRC, you can "moderate it" so only people with "voice" (what admins can set" can speak, you can also set it to private so nobody can join unless invited I think But don't know how that would work on the chat app. Plus, for any of the actual mods/admins/trusted members from here, if they registered their nicknames (using a diff pass to normal obv), then the could get admin/mod status in there too, which means they can kick/ban, voice/devoice, set room to private/invite/moderated etc.
