A recommendation, request if you will.
Some of you will be aware of the ongoing project that is the forum's adoption of Cordoba for the coming season. Now we do have a few resident Cordoba supporters who have found their way here but they are marooned in the Newbies.
They only have one main cause for visitng and that is to pass on info and interact with thsoe interested in their club's plight. I am reliably infomred that a good proportion have sufficient English, you mods will also know if they have been sensible or not and i cannot imagine that they wouldn't be. I would ask that the mods treat this as an exceptional case and promote them ahead of time so as to be able to talk in the thread in the Main Forum. In a related matter, there is a Caf member in the Newbie Forum called fearghal, he has put himself out to try and better the community and bring info to others, i'd ecommend him for promotion. |

As for others, my personal opinion is they need to go through the newbie process like the rest on the forum. I would think there would be a lot of disappointed genuine Manchester United if we made them a special case. They can quite easily debate the issues in the newbie forum, and even send PM's if they need to post something significant in the main forum. I am sure most mods, and admins will read this thread, and if they see fit, they can quite easily rep or promote any poster deemed worthy. |

Perhaps the answer to this is have a special stickied Cordoba thread in the newbie thread, and then someone with visible access can include any worthwhile contributions in the main forum thread whilst they 'endure' the newbie process?

Thanks
![]() Though, he was as far as i was aware the leadign advocate for the idea in the Newbie Forums, are there otehrs who will fill the void down there can you tell me? Quote:
On what basis do you judge people before promotion? If these Cordoba fans who have joined the caf comment on a fairly narrow range of subjects is taht going to seriously limit their chances? fearghal was telling me that if there isn't a decent level of interaction they could very easily end up drifiting away. Talking through middle men is no favour to a good conversation. Depending on the numbers involved it could take a little bit to setup, however one possible compromise could be a dedicated forum that is neither Main nor Newbie. Only people who asked would be given access on their user account, only they could see it. It would be a pain to setup mind, i do have experience of a VB control panel . If you first thought it was worth doing and second trusted me, i could probably do all the boring legwork. A mere temporary arrangement. Of course if the majority of mods and admins all view it as going beyond what is necessary, we'll simply have to be patient and hope they are promoted before the season is over. Well i wouldn't put it quite like that lol, more...following their season, learning. There is no conflict. If it is popular enough for the duration, we could decide on a different club [also outside the top flight and of whom the majority have little knowledge of for 09/10. |

It is a bit 'support another club' and a bit rubbish, to be fair.
It would not be right to speed a bunch of opposition supporters through simply because Nick has adopted them. |

Niall likes a clutter free forum Nick. He will not allow a sub-forum for another football team. An Admin/Mod has been kind enough to make a sticky in football forum, and with respect to what you are doing, and the Cordoba fans, that is as far as we can go.

I read through the newbies every day and I know most of the mods/admins do. If we spot an intelligent/funny/well worded post then we will generally mention to the others to keep an eye on said poster. Assuming the poster comes up with a few more good posts and no stupid ones, we generally promote them early. Its not a bad system and seems to be working ok, although obviously some loons somehow manage to trick the system and get promoted. No ones entirely sure how rimaldo got promoted, rest assured though we are looking into that one. It will, as you say, be a shame to lose some of the better Cordoba posters if they get bored of the newbies and leave, but I'm not sure that can be helped. How many do you think are planning on signing up here? If there's a fair few then maybe Brads idea of a stickied Cordoba thread could work. |

It is actually easier to get promoted now that it was when we all joined. Aside from Smashed. No one likes Smashed but we felt sorry for him. |

But when you start asking for sub-forums and such so that you can support other clubs or to promote people who support other teams simply for that reason alone, then that takes it too far. Considering how kind we're being about the whole thing, I'm not sure where your venom is coming from when I point out it would be unfair to actual United supporters in the newbie to rush through Cordoba supporters because Nick and friends have adopted them. You're welcome to your adoption, but there's only so far that we're going to be able to take it with you and be fair to the Caf and its users while meeting Niall's wishes for the forum. Oh, and yes, I do have a permanent sneer. If you want it I'll sell it to you. |
