IMO the caftards knows the boundary and behaving pretty well, besides, the social punishment for making shit threads normally deter from anyone making stupid threads (unless it's off season where every 1 liner are made a thread)

So, imo if you have a strong case / argument / opinion that you think (most importantly the mods thinks merit a new thread) i wouldn't mind.

There are so many specifics argument that can jumble up into a stupid mong fights in the mega thread, as original banter and opinion are often jumbled up, heck I don't know what berbatov's thread have become these days, not that i want to trawl 100+ pages just to find the red line, and again some banters will probably stuck in the middle of there somewhere and people just don't bother to continue amidst all the stupid lol icons

It depends on what the thread is about, as I said. A good example of a large thread is the GT5 one, which then has its offshoot thread for the online. The reason that it works is because it's about a very tightly defined topic. Talk about Berbatov in general is fine, have a large thread about it, but so is a thread "Berbatov's performance today vs TEAM - DATE". The problem is when that second one has a title "Berbatov" or "Berbatov today". You end up with 50 "Berbatov" and "Berbatov today" threads in a single season.

Personally, I ignore all the super-threads.

If there's a new thread on a theoretical new contract for Berbatov, then I suspect there's probably a good discussion about whether it was a good idea to sign or not, whether that's the direction we should be moving in or not, what the terms might be, so on. And I'll probably read it with a mind to contribute.

If there's a megathread on Berbatov, I'll expect a couple of people with 20,000 posts to be arguing the toss about what kind of striker he is, and precisely what role he performs in the side, and who he works best with, producing hundreds of stats and facts to outline why they're right. Which they've been doing for the last 2 years with still no agreement in sight. So I just skip it.

Technically, the superthreads should combine all discussion into one manageable place but most of the time they just become the preserve of those willing to multi-quote until their browser crashes and pushing the same points they've been making since square one, whilst everybody else bails.

That's true.

Another good example of what I was saying is in the Ever Banega thread at the moment. There was no actual transfer activity, someone just wanted to discuss the player's skills etc. Many people will think there was some transfer news and will end up disappointed.

when people update the thread title could they maybe put (R435) or something to say see reply 435 for that particular update?
