The hating and "cunt" calling apart, I really don't want any player forced to be at the club.
I he does want to go so badly, we must cash in. Its obvious that a player who desperately wants out is detrimental to the team. However, Fergie is probably the best judge of the situation, so if he is ready to keep him, then the situation might not be as bad as the press want us to believe. |

Hmmm... So presumably if I wanted to refer to a well known stretch of motorway near Glasgow I would fail to convey its name? Make it difficult if I were giving directions; 'You take the M77 as far as Ibrox, then turn east on the ** Madness. |

As much as I like him playing for United and flashing his great talent on the field, his inability to keep his mouth shut for one second is really irritating. When you think the rumor is starting to die down, he just comes out and speaks his dumb mind again.

Im with Fergie. Ronaldo is at the right club. Due to the nature of Real Madrid and their boardroom issues it is a potential banana skin for him. He may regret a move and once he has left United there is usually no way back.

If Ronaldo's "agreement" with Blatter had truly been misinterpreted, why did it take a week for him to say that? I don't expect him to respond to every B.S. article that Marca, AS, the Sun, etc. But when virtually every media outlet is saying that you agreed with one of the most ignorant comments of the year, you don't wait a week to set the record straight.
It doesn't take much. Just have whatever publicist/Page Ranking firm send out a press release on the wire, clarifying his statements. No need to even come out with an interview clarifying it. A simple press release handles it. Surely he has some advisers calling him up and saying, "Ronnie, you're being made to look like you think millionaire athletes are equivalent to tortured slaves, that's not good for your image. Let's set the record straight." With all the other stories, if he were to come out now and say that the interviews were taken out of context, so be it, as they were vague to begin with. But to let that misinterpretation fester for a week? I'm not buying it. |

Totally agree. The problem is that the player seemingly doesn't agree. Fergie has obviously dealt with "problem" players many times, but I do wonder whether forcing him to stay will have a negative effect on the squad (in terms of morale and harmony). It's only that he's such a great player that I'd keep him, even though it would be my preference that he fucked off and we pocketed a shit load of money. I guess the bottom line (as always) is that you have to trust Fergie in what he's doing, although my opinion of "Ronaldo the man" has soured somewhat.

Definately the best player in the world at the moment. However if you are looking holistically then I would say no. His biggest let down is football intelligence.
Ronaldinho at his prime could not only dribble his way out of any tight spot, he could score and he could pick brilliant defence splitting passes. Ronaldo doesn't yet have that to his game. I'm yet to see him put in one like Dinho did in the CL semi-finals to Guily in 05/06. |

The fact that this is a war between the two greatest clubs in the world and the best player in the world is what makes this so interesting. This saga is being followed worldwide and we're actually at the centre of it here at the caf, hence the 25,000 daily views we get on this topic. So ease up on the criticism of those of us who post on here. Yes, there's a lot of bs about but there's also been more good discussioon than I've ever seen on the caf before, from caftards not usually involved in such things. With caftards scatterd all over the world it doesn't take long for news to pop up here, the minute it comes out anywhere. I'm not one for indiscriminately posting as you can see from my post count prior to this thread. I'm hooked on this, yes, but for good reason. |

Sir Alex Ferguson tells Cristiano Ronaldo to stay put at Manchester United James Ducker in Durban The debate surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo's future intensified last night when Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United manager, claimed that the Portugal forward would be making the biggest mistake of his career if he joined Real Madrid. Despite Ferguson's insistence - after clear-the-air talks with the player in Lisbon eight days ago - that Ronaldo would not be sold, Real have refused to concede defeat in their attempts to sign him and are said to be considering making an €85million (about £67.5million) offer. But with relations between the clubs at rock bottom, Ferguson launched another broadside by insisting that the Bernabéu would be the wrong environment for a player such as Ronaldo. Ferguson had previously accused Real of having “no class or morals” in their relentless pursuit of Ronaldo and, given the volatile nature of the Spanish club, the United manager believes that the player should steer clear. “I think he knows genuinely where the best club is to be and that's Manchester United - it's the best one for him,” Ferguson said. “I have a responsibility for all of my players and their futures are a big concern for a coach. If you are asking for advice and it was your son, you would give him the best advice possible. I believe that could be the worst thing he [Ronaldo] could do - go to Real Madrid. I think, at 23 years of age, he is at the right club.” |
