Reasons we can still win the league

OK...i'll start the ball rolling....
1) We had yet to reach top form yet, whearas Arsenal surely can't maintain such form throughout the season.

2) To win the league, you need a stable defence, and we had the 2nd best defensive record in the premiership right now.

3) Once Keane returns, he will be as fit and as fresh as ever.

4) Lady luck had not smiled on UNITED at the moment, well...it will soon change

What makes you Mancs think that you can play any better than you have done so far?
Top form ?.....will still not be good enough,in my view......face the facts.....both the Arse and the scousers have passed you by.

I agree that we've both passed the Mancs..

I still wouldn't rule them out mind, as they're not a million miles away, and I'd be surprised if you can keep this form up..

I agree with you that it would be foolish to rule the Mancs out completely. My own view is that the title will either go to us again or maybe you lot....I just don't see the Mancs doing it,they have the whiff of a once great team in decline. They'll still finish third ,though.I just find it amazing how blind the Mancs are to the failings of their current team and this belief they have that everything will come good again and Man U will be back again in their 'rightful' place at the top of the league. It's just wishful thinking and I ,for one, will welcome the enforced humility they will have to show after some more trophy-less years.

In fairness it can be hard admitting it to yourself...I didn't realise how bad things were when we fell from grace, probably half due to the fact that I didn't want to believe it.
I've said from the start of the season that the three of us are the only clubs capable of taking the title, and that if I had to call it I'd say it will be you, us then the Mancs in that order...I've seen nothing to date thats made me change my mind.
Anyway, I've had enought of admitting/hearing how feckin good you lot are...what are your main "worries" in regard to potential problems?

Problems for us..? They would include

a)Injuries/suspensions to Henry and Vieira
b)Seaman continues his decline or is injured and our back up goalies don't cut it
c)Just plain bad luck or poor ref decisions in key games
d)Loss of form or confidence caused by a to c above

To be honest,we are flying at the moment. If anything, games appear too easy. Now ,however good you are, such brilliance is always difficult to maintain,so I am expecting a temporary dip at some time.Though with Pires still to come back, there is a lot of optimism. The idea we can go a whole season unbeaten, although possible,is very unlikely in my view and most fellow Gooners would say the same.So no arrogance there.(Unlike some other clubs' fans ,I can think off )

Although i respect the Gunners for what they had achieve so far, breaking records and all... But mark my words, UNITED will at least push it right to the final few games. OK, i admit that this team is a bit of a decline at the moment, but comes the transfer window, i hope we will splash some cash on players

Fair points. Whats your take on Wenger and his mouthing off etc? I find it amusing as it strikes me that a lot of it is to wind Fergie up, and I reckon it works..but he does go overboard at times...

It will be interesting to see how you go about bringing Pires back into the side..

Do you reckon West Ham has been 'overtaken' by all the teams in the Premiership?

To be honest,a lot of 'his mouthing off' is media spin. All he said was that he thought it was possible to go through the season unbeaten...and it is possible. He is just being honest in that he believes in his team and expects them to be succesful. So far,it has worked in that the team are responding positively to his expressions of confidence.

As to mind games.....I don't think so ,I genuinely think he is unconcerned about Ferguson whom, on the other hand, does appear to be rattled by Wenger often resorting to unsubtle attacks on him and his team.

I think its easier to pick out the best sides in the league..

We finished above you last season, we're currently above you..

Perhaps, just possibly, we're better than you?

I doubt he's particularly concerned by Fergie...I just get the impression that he's winding him up cos he enjoys it..

So much for Adams predicting you to finish third eh?

There should be enough games for Pires to make a major contribution to the team.
(It's rumoured by the way he may play occasionally in the 'Bergkamp' role off the main striker ,especially in european games when Dennis won't travel and also because there is a limit to the number of games Bergkamp can now play in a season.)Having said that,I'd expect Pires to occupy his usual place, initially ,wide on the left.

I think you're right...Arsene does seem to enjoy goading poor old Ferguson (that one last year when he said...'everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home ' after Ferguson was proclaiming that despite their poor form,Man U were still the best team in England, was a classic!)

As for Adams,I'm pretty sure he was having a laugh with the media.

But that's over a season, not 9 games! You see, you're at it again Davo. Too many people are jumping to too many conclusions, too fast. With a quarter of the season gone, I don't think any of us are in a position to say who is better than who. As you say, we'll see who laughs at the end of the season

and when does "a blip" or perhaps a "temporary spell" stop being that and become the norm?
