I can't see him leaving Sevilla ATM, so close to breaking into the first team. Besides, it's media bollocks. Of course young talent is always welcome but I imagine he'd rather play for Sevilla's first-team than our reserves.

I think in a few years we could field a team with a lot of home-grown talent without the class of '92. The question marks being left midfield and central midfield. Bardsley, Jones, N'Galula, Fletcher, Spector, Pique, McShane, Eagles, Rossi...I feel we have a lot of good young material.

That's all I wanted to say.
Excellent post. You said enough. Cheers.

United / Antwerp link - good news / bad news

Royal Antwerp won yesterday to go top of the second division. Unfortunately they won without using any players at all with links to United. They won 2-1 with 29 year-old Gabriel Persa scoring both goals.

On the slightly brighter side, the reserves scored seven ... three from Souleyamne Mamam.

Blackburn Res 2 United Res 2

UNITED: Heaton, Picken, Lawrence, Pique, Spector, Ngalula, Eagles, Jones D., Ebanks-Blake, Poole, Heath. Substitutes: Collett, Crockett, Hogg, Jones R., Howard.

MANCHESTER United reserves were twice behind but fought back for a point at Christie Park, Morecambe, last night.

Rovers took the lead in the 16th minute through Paul Gallagher, who clipped the ball home after taking a pass from Jonathon Douglas. It could have been two a few minutes later but United keeper Tom Heaton made a fine save to keep out Ciaran Donnelly's shot.

Then, in the 27th minute, United drew level when David Poole latched on to a defensive mistake to score off the post.

Former United Academy scholar Jemal Johnson put Rovers back in front in the 32nd minute, but Poole quickly replied to level for United.

Although the second half passed without further addition to the score, only a brilliant diving save from Rovers keeper David Yelldell prevented Colin Heath's blistering drive from proving a winner for the Reds.

Eddie Johnson and Antwerp (not connected)

Eddie Johnson scored his third in three games for Coventry on Saturday, five so far in the season.

Meanwhile Antwerp lost at home to drop to third. Only Souleymane Mamam figured. Dong is out with a back injury and Gomez with hamstrings. Antwerp now third in table.

Apparently another striker called Eddie Johnson, a yank, came on trial to United today.
Our team in a couple of years could feasibly be

------------------Howard------------------
G.Neville-----(Rio)------Howard------P.Neville
Djemba------D.Jones-----R.Jones----Djemba
--------Eddie Johnson---Eddie Johnson------

That would properly fuck up opposing managers' teamtalks.

On the bench - the Eckersley's, the Rooney's and the Nardiello's.

Crewe scored a great free kick. One of ours scored a penalty before they scored a quick free kick and another good goal to go 3-1 up. Filho put on a sub who scored one and set up the other for Frazer Campbell for the equalizer, his 8th of the season. Sorry I'm not so good with names.

Darren Gibson scored from the spot after phil marsh had been brought down. united were 3-1 down when sean evans and kieran lee came on and changed the game around. evans scored as well.

line-up: Crockett; Simpson, Lea, Shawcross, J. Evans; Rose, Gray, Gibson, Moran; Campbell, Marsh

Not a good day for Luke Steele and Eddie Johnson. Coventry lost 3-0 at Leicester.

Aye. I dont think Johnson played, one the last Leicester goal was the only one where Steele could be blamed. On a corner he came out to punch but didnt get to it in time and it was headed in.

Rossi Handed Squad Number
Young Reds prospect Giuseppe Rossi could be handed his United debut on Wednesday against Crystal Palace after being given a squad number on Tuesday. Rossi, a summer signing from Italian side Parma, only signed professional forms at Old Trafford last week.
As Ferguson again looks to blood some youngsters in the Carling Cup - he gave debuts to Gerard Pique and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake in the last round against Crewe - Rossi looks set to benefit from his first appearance for the Reds. Rossi can play in an attacking midfield role or up front, and has put in some exciting performances for United's Reserves this term, registering a number impressive goals.

I'm not having a go at you because I can see that you've cut and paste the story from manutd.com but you'd think the official site would get his position correct.

Well I've watched him a lot this season and I think he's defo a forward, his finishing would be wasted in the midfield. I've heard a few people say he can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger but I've not seen any evidence of this. Surely he could play there if required but it's clear as day to me his best position is centre forward (More Rooney style than Ruud style though.).

johnson is a pretty good young player, physically has all of the skills (pace, size, speed) to succeed, pretty good finisher but still needs to work on his game

already scored 4 in two international games, both as a substitute. Had a hat trick in 30 minutes against panama.

doubtful he will end up signing for us, can't get a WP.
