Donatello, as in Ninja Turtle, is Danny's dad. May be otherwise related, Nardiello is certainly not a common surname here is it?

this is from the offical site

The son of former Coventry winger Donato Nardiello, Daniel has been a prolific striker at youth level for United.

Maybe they are related but surely that would be mentioned in the piece about the younger one.

Anyway where are the lastest results for the youth teams?

Reserves drew 2-2 tonight at Middlesbrough. Our goals from Ehioghu (OG) and Paul McShane.

McShane and Spector in the centre of the defence for the reserves.

Irish U19 International Paul McShane will know all about the phrase ‘from Villain to Hero’, for on Monday evening he conceded what was a harsh penalty against Middlesboro’s second string, but minutes later he made up for his error with his first ever Manchester United reserves goal.

Middlesboro started the better side, and were unfortunate to fall behind after Uugo Ehiogu’s own goal gave the visiting United side the lead midway through the second half.

In rather bizarre circumstances, Ehiogu, back from knee ligament damage, made an unwanted goals coring return.

Stretching to clear a right-wing cross, the central-defender watched agonised as the ball looped up over Turnbull from seven yards.

It took Boro' just four minutes to draw level as Taylor sent over a low cross, and the United rearguard failed to clear and Graham slid in to touch home at the back post.

Just after the restart McShane was adjudged to have handled the ball – even the non-Irish watching felt that the linesman’s decision was ridiculous.

But Boro were awarded the penalty four minutes into the second half and James Morrison beat Jowsey with a powerful well-placed spot-kick, though the ‘keeper went the right way.

United drew level with 56 minutes played as Boro failed to clear a left-wing corner and Paul McShane hammered the ball into the goal from five yards out, making up for his earlier mistake, scoring his first goal for Uniteds' reserves.

McShane's Irish U19 International colleague Gary Liddle made an 82 minute substitute appearance for the Boro’.

Final score 2 – 2

TEAMS:
Middlesbrough: Turnbull; Parnaby, Taylor, Smith, Ehiogu, Davies, Morrison (Liddle 81), Wilson, Graham, Dove, Johnston.

Unused subs: Close, Bates, Brunt, McMahon.

Manchester United: Jowsey; Sims, Pugh, Spector, McShane, Jones (Picken 40), Eagles, Wood, Williams (Poole 73), Nardiello (Cooper 65), Richardson.

Unused subs: Heaton (gk), Howard.

No nardiello didnt score at swansea. That i am sure off i dont think he started that many either.

There is something strange going on with timm. He has gone down in the pecking order if anything. He has loads of potential but maybe he has an attiitude problem. He has though got a tendancy to get these bad little injuries ankle and toe and others. Im starting to think he has blown his chance

Yeah it's a great shame, but it is beginning to look that way.
Still time for him to turn it round though.

hes a target man. Hes 6,3 and almost 200 pounds which translates into around 190cm and just under 100 kilos.

Ive talked to some yanks and they say he knows how to use what hes got i.e strength, holding the ball up and he is a good header of the ball. And for his size he has very good ball control. He has just turned 19. Out of the strikers in the reserves williams, nardiello, johnson and cooper i think cooper and johnson have the best chance

The finnish kid Puustinen is also a big CF, he's 17 in January and 189 /80kg, he's getting very good reviews, it sounds like we get a homegrown forward into the first team in the next year or two. Its a pity we don't have one ready now, we'll probably have to buy and then a string of them will come along at once! Johnson, Ebanks blake and Puustinen all sound promising.

needs a buzz cut.

He got the assist for McShane's goal- flick on from the corner. Fingers crossed for McShane and Spector making it, thing is that timing is such a factor- hopefully we don't need to buy another CB in the near future- than makes it more difficult for them to break through, though SAF is fully behind the academy and will favour promoting from within where possible.

I hope I don't get banned for posting a link to this MASSIVE site. If the reserves coverage on manutd.com wasn't so shit we wouldn't have to resort to this.

Cooper is doing well. I read on another forum that he gets regular 8 aside games with the first team squad, he playing the 'Ruud' role for the other team.
There was a bit of argument on one yank site because many were saying he couldn't be that good because he never did anything in the US and he is just a commercial 'yank' signing with an english passport. The U20 coach saw him play half a game and left for lunch at half time, missing Coopers second half hat-trick. He only took interest after Utd offered him a contract, and Cooper declined the offer of training with the U20's to concentrate on United . Early days, but I hope he does well.

I saw his first outing for the reserves away at Everton and he looked a bit languid and not quite with it. I've seen him 7 or 8 time since and he just keeps getting better and better. He is a lot like Ruud in his approach to the game, he's a similar size, not overpowering in the air but still a threat, he's got really quick feet. Have seen him wriggle in and out of some really tight situations. He knows where the target is and is not afraid to try something a bit different to make a chance for himself.

I'm hopeful that he could go a long way with us. Shame that we could not have progressed further in the Careless cup as he never got a chance in that this season and I'd really like to see him in a 'real' game. Perhaps the FA Cup 4th round might see some of the youngsters given a chance?

I would certainly see him as ahead of Nardiello and even Johnson now as back up to Ruud, Diego, and Bellion.

Ruud was not exceptional as a youngster, I seem to remember reading that PSV saw him at 18 or 19 but didn't see enough to make them interested, but he just improved steadily through hard work, still is improving. So it would be very if Cooper does something simlar and at least earns some kind of role in the first team squad.
