Third time i`ve done this, but first time in the Caf league. Last year was shit cos unless you had Ronaldo you had no chance. Think he should be classed as a forward.

How many of you have a no Scousers policy?

Hi Nearco,

I've done the telegraph before and most certainly had a no-scousers policy, and it's cost me points.

I'm abandoning my rule this year though, as I don't want to be too humiliated before the caftard masses. Mind you 45% of teams so far have Torres in, so that alone seems a bit of a make-or-break decision.

So far i'm going with

Friedel
Gallas, R.Ferdinand, Lescott
Modric, Hargreaves, Essien, Kuyt
Santa Cruz, Keane, Owen

might be tempted to put in Berbatov, Tevez, Defoe or Alves in though

So, looking at the game this year, where are the bargains and players to avoid?

Bargains:
- A lot of West Ham players are good - particularly the ones who were injured a lot last year. Bellamy is 6.5, Dyer 5.5, Parker 5, so good value there

- United midfielders - Scholes, Hargo and Carrick all 7 - not too bad really. Scholes is the one to have though - virtually guaranteed starter and good value.

- Leighton Baines - was injured a lot last year, but is Everton's first choice LB so at 5 could be worth a pop

- Johann Vogel from Blackburn. Priced at 4.5m (criminal) but is quality, and guaranteed starter. Won't score any goals, but will be useful on the bench.

--------------

Players to avoid:
- Liverpool players, aside from Gerrard or Torres - the rest are rotated so much there's no guarantee who will play.

- Chelsea midfielders - whose going to play? I currently have Ballack but how is it going to work? Ballack, Deco, Essien, Cole in the same midfield??!! (help here please - should I get rid of Ballack?)

I stuck Berbatov in so that if we get him then I might be able to have 4 united players.

Interesting points. I hadn't thought of Vogel, good idea that

West Ham players are good value. McCartney for £5m is a regular, and Tomkins for £4m could break into the starting XI ahead of Anton. I'd steer clear of Dyer and Bellamy at all costs - they'll always get injured. Ashton is bargainous though.

Baines - be cautious. He wasn't first choice LB last season, even when fit Lescott often started ahead of him. Could be a bargain but is a little risky so he's on my bench.
Other Everton players - Cahill if fit and Yakubu both 8m. Guarenteed goals.

Bolton - had a hard time last season but Megson recovered some of Sammy Lee's damage. Defenders like Cahill and Steinnson came in and looked good, both 4.5m. In midfield Nolan and Taylor for 6m, Muamba £5m could all be bargains.

You cant make any transfers if you do this, as first time you try and make one it will tell you to get rid of a United player. I tried it with Tevez last year.

Mascherano is cheap because this game doesn't really award defensive midfielders. Mascherano had one goal and one assist last season, he may get the odd bonus point and a point for a clean sheet, but without the assists and goals he wont get you much points. Same for any holding midfielder, best to avoid them I think.

I meant that he will be at the olympics and will miss the start of the season because of it. What you said works too though (although hargreaves is considerably more expensive)

Just checked my team again and realised i picked a terrible defense to compensate for a good attack, thats gonna haunt me.

My team:

Reina

Melchiot Wheater Scharner Young

Young Fabregas McCann Ronaldo

Rooney Berbatov

its Rooney, Ronaldo and Fabregas thats raped my money.

not sure if Ramos is a big fan of lennon.
Also Carrick and Anderson may not score too much

That maybe a site you want to take a look at if you are needing some help with picking fantasy teams.

Gives a lot of tips regarding fantasy football, like who is injured and suspended, who is each team's penalty, free kick and corner takers.

You should remove Mascherano. Doesn`t get any goals or assists and you will get -points for his yellow cards. Defensive midfielders are never really good in fantasy football.

Current team, will change some before the start and Ronaldo will feature when he is fit.

Ruben`s 11

---------Friedel---------

---Vidic--Laursen--Bale---

Bentley-Ballack--Fabregas--Barmby (extreme weak point!)

---Bent-Rooney (c)-Santa Cruz

All my substitutes are extremely poor.
