Nowhere near as annoying as Janice from the Sopranos... she was the most annoying person on TV when the show was on... I used to wish she'd get clipped in a driveby gone wrong every time I saw her.

Janice was incredibly annoying, but at least she had some form of character and brought an element to the show. Not completely sure why, but I can't remember a character being as infuriating as Mrs. Schroeder. She is just vast empty space. Cliched storyline.. Her little affair, her spiritual beliefs.. NOTHING. It's so annoying to watch an otherwise great show being kidnapped by this black hole of boring. I don't give a shit about her and wish she vanished from the face of the earth. They really need to make something happen to her. She's bringing Nucky down with her too.

I don't find her in the least bit annoying, frankly I'm struggling to think of anything I dislike about this show.

I think most people hate her character. Absolutely useless and is literally just there to give Nucky a family life.

She doesn't do anything to advance the story at all, and when she does do something, its more of an inconvenience instead of something interesting.

That ending has changed my feeling for Nucky. Knew he was bad, but was out of necessity. Now I don't have that attachment for him anymore. Anything can now happen to him and I would not care.

I sort of agree with that. Always felt he was bad because he had to but the ending was a bit unnecessary I thought, or at least, un-Nucky like.

Though the reason I think Nucky became the person he was by the end is because before he was never really under threat from anybody, let alone people who he thought he was close to. So in a way, he became bad/worse out of necessity. He now has to fit in with his associates on a slightly different level than before.

He's like Tony Soprano. You don't want to think of them as arseholes, but they really are. It gives their character so much depth.

You could sympathise quite easily with Tony Soprano though, but then again the psychiatry sessions gave them the perfect platform to create this bond between him and the viewer.

Saying that, Nucky isn't trying to be Soprano at all.

Seeing as all 12 episodes are now out, I've started watching season 2. 4 episodes in now.

Jimmy is definitely the best character, always interested in his plots.
Nucky however, give a fuck, as I've said before, Buscemi is not a lead actor.
Let's not even start on Margaret, utter cunt, I mean at least Betty Draper is hot.

Also Lucy, find it hilarious that they have her naked every chance they get.

For me he completely makes the show, he might not be attractive but he certainly has stage presence.

I don't think he does. He's quite bland, not very funny and even when he's being a dickhead he doesn't come across as actually being menacing.

The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men, Breaking Bad. All lead characters and supporting characters in those shows are far better.

Jimmy and Richard are good characters, the others are all really cliché, I'm not sure if that's intentional or not.

Finished watching season 2. Overall a decent season:

Can't believe they killed Jimmy, apart from Al Capone he was my favorite character. The scene where they shot him and then had the flashback to WW1 was quite cool. I hope we get to see more of Richard, Charlie, Al etc in the next season.

Nucky was a bit boring this season but with him now back in power I hope he is more interesting next time.

Mrs Schroeder is a rubbish character, I'd rather they have more scenes with Eddie the butler than her. Her act to transfer the land surely means Nucky will kill her.

I just finished thew 2nd season. Overall I enjoyed it, it was a slow burner and then really took off in the last 3 or 4 episodes. It will be interesting to see how Nucky deals with Schroeder.

I have to disagree with you Championio.

You say he was bad out of necessity. Jimmy set up a rival bootlegging business and authorised a hit on him, how do you expect him to take that sitting down? He got revenge on Jimmy by shooting him and he ordered his Brother to go to jail. He's now free to continue with his business.

Just did a bit of a marathon and finished S2. Oh boy ....

It really does pick up in the last few episodes. And what a 'mother' of an ending. Fucking killing Jimmy Darmody. WTF. Made for great television though, didn't think they would have the cojones to go through with it since he was such a popular character. I've read that there were rumours that Michael Pitt was difficult to work with on set. They're facing the wrath of the internet police now, that's for sure.

Approaching the last few episodes of the series new. Going to be interesting to see what happens. I don't know if they can keep both Nucky and Jimmy going. Perhaps, it'll be like the first series where each party comes to a truce. Jimmy has it coming, anyway. Getting too big for his boots now.
