Come on, it's not like it's impossible to win if they use Arsenal or Real instead. I usually play as Arsenal if someone picks Unted.

I kind of shoot myself in the foot because I played with United and play with a weaker side and with a 433 formation. I play Anderson instead of Scholes, Hargreaves at right back, Giggs as LCM etc...

I'm a fan of the 433 system on the game, Chelsea are the best team to play it with though.

Some reason I never liked playing 442 with United maybe because Ronaldo is not so far up the pitch.

EA Sports probably used the same template for goblins in Battle for middle earth and players in FIFA games. The graphics are horrible.

But in fifa 08, you can make your own formations.

That's the same formation as me but I have one cf and two strikers instead.

Has anybody tried some of the challenges on challenge mode. Some of them ae ridiculous. I had to score 3 goals with Ribery in the first 10 minutes and then 2 goals with Van Bommel in the 2nd half. It took me a while just to score the 3 with Ribey in the first 10 minutes! (considering the match had to be 5 minutes each way it was pretty hard.)
Anyway i finally scored the 3 with him in the first 10 minutes and was on my way to completing it. Scored one goal with Van Bommel in the 2nd and had 35 minutes to score another. Just as i was breaking clear with Van Bommel, one of the oppositions defenders came in, took out Van Bommel and injured him!
Meaning that i couldnt score the other goal i needed! Wasn't best pleased.

Only time I played three at the back was on '07 haha. Never tried it on this one. Does anyone like using the standard 442 for United?

A few times I tried this:

------Rooney----Ronaldo-----
------------Tevez-------------
--Giggs-----------------Anderson------
-------------Hargreaves---------------
--Evra----Vidic-----Ferdinand---Neville-----

Tevez as attacking midfield, Hargreaves at DM. Anderson was rated higher than Nani even on the wing so I tried him. Rooney/Ronaldo were like unstoppable up front though and I had Tevez joining in from midfield. Funnily enough Ronaldo is rated higher than Rooney as a "striker" but that's different when Rooney is a CF.

Start of with 442 and see how it goes, if i find it hard to get any room to do anything i change to 4-3-2-1, Rooney up top, Tevez left and Ronaldo right, Giggsy LM, Scholes CM and Carrick to the right, usually works a treat

I've run into a bunch of people who see that I have United picked and they quit the game during the lineup page. So I've had pretty good success with Bayern Munich. They have good aerial ability and I can usually score off crosses. The only problem is the defense is a bit shady.

I haven't bought a FIFA game since the 98 version and have been playing PES since PES2. But the new PES is just not doing it for me and I've only played it a couple of times in the start.

I'm now "getting" FIFA2008, just to see if they've improved since I tried the demo version of FIFA2007.

FIFA got the advantage that they are allowing LAN-play, which means it's possible to play online using Hamachi even if you haven't actually bought the game.

I'm no PES fan or FIFA fan and I have played both, including previous versions, and for as much as the new Pro Evo has gone worse the new FIFA has got better, in my view.

I never got round to playing FIFA07 but I played FIFA06 a fair few times and the improvement in the overall gameplay and realism in FIFA08 surprised me. [PC]
