Auto-pass/cross is also incredibly shite. So I guess you have to make a choice which one is less shite.

For future reference, anyone here wanting a game of 5 v 5 mode on the 360, i'll be up for a game. I'm yet to try it, but when i get back to my flat it would be good not to end up on a team full of muppets so we should try get some games going on here.

Also first time shots goes wrong in fifa08.EA hadn't done much in fifa 08. Infact they didn't specify the keys for the PC version in a good way.

The tips and hints on fifa sucks. When playing a match sometimes some small screens pop up like 'press 8 to do this' and so on. Butwhen we press '8' on the keyboard nothing happens. The key '8' is actually 'c' on the PC version. Cunts.

I've played fifa for a while now and come to this conclusion. It is quite shit. The runs the players make are absolutely awful, and rarely will they go beyond a defender. It is incredibly difficult to dribble no matter who you control. It is almost impossible to score from distance. There is a long delay at times when you try to pass, and often it does not allow first time passes. It is more frustrating than enjoyable imo.

I've scored some decent goals and never had a problem with 1st time passes.

On the 360 I've had none of these problems. It takes effort, but I can dribble without too much difficulty and I've scored some great goals from distance. Nor have I had a problem with first time shots as mentioned above.

I'm guessing you're not playing it on the 360/ps3 though ^ And I haven't played the pc / ps2 version.

Right I have got my hands on Fifa and I am getting used to it, I wouldn't say it’s a great game but it does get better the more you play it, however I have a few grips

1. The button configuration, being a PES player for the last 12 years its second nature to use that control system when playing a football game, however although Fifa does provide a similar setting the R2 button is still used to sprint which can be irritating. Why not just completely use the same as PES instead of giving you a setup that is 95% similar. Or even better let you configure your own buttons which strangely enough the PC version lets you do.

2. The radar is pretty useless, most of the time the colours on the map are not the same colour as the team’s kit, they are just usually a blackish grey colour and again strangely enough on the PC version the radar is as clear as day….

3. The Camera choices, I remember the day when I played Fifa there were almost an unlimited choice of camera angles, now there are around 5 and only 2 are actually playable on. I don’t really like the default camera as I find it to far away to from the action and have started playing on the dynamic camera, now this is far to close but actually find it more enjoyable, although this reduces the chances of playing pitch sweeping balls its doesn't really matter as the map is useless and long balls are pointless due to the air time the ball seems to have.
Oh another interesting fact is that the PC version gives you the choice of zooming in and out and adjusting the height of the camera, something strangely enough the PS3 doesn’t.
In fact other then the graphics I would say the PC version is better. However they still both carry the same Fifa trait from as far as I can remember scoring goals on Fifa are extremely unsatisfying.

Fifa do have the base for a great game it’s just this is not it.
You could say I am PES fan and I would probably say yes but that's because over time they have made the best football games but if Fifa could get up to the quality of PES gameplay I would quite happy change.
At this current stage I wouldn’t say one is better then the other it’s just depends what you could tolerate, unfortunately I couldn’t tolerate the frame drops in PES this year that is why I got Fifa for the first time since Fifa 95!

Having played all the current main football games this is how I would rate them

PES 2008 6.5/10
Fifa 08 7/10
Winning Eleven 8/10

be a pro 5 v 5 is really good fun, and you feel a sense of acheivement, whether you are the player that supplies/scores or makes the last ditch tackle

Sounds like it is you and not the game which is shit.
The jump in skill level between Pro Evo and Fifa is absolutely vast. It is much easier for a Fifa player to play on Pro Evo than for a Pro Evo player to play on Fifa.

You can score some truly ridiculous goals on Pro Evo. Even an average player can make the best defenders look embarassing with players such as Carragher.
On Fifa, you must have someone like Ronaldo, Messi, etc if you are trying to take someone decent on.

Interesting read about the PC version. It doesn't sound great at all.

Before i had two people shouting at me on live. One felt it necessary to complain that all i did was dribble with Patrice Evra. I was quick to tell him that Evra is the reasoning behind all existence and that if he didn't like that he should quit the game and die.
Some other guy was complaining that i shouldn't be "Man Yoo" and that i had no reason to be them. Utter spastic....

I had a gimp in one of my 1st games moaning that I was United, I wouldn't mind he was bloody Chelsea. He also said that the ref was a united fan as I won 2-1. Some utter bellends on there. I had one guy make the game lag every time i got the ball, as soon as he had it the game ran perfectley, I crashed and lagged out of the game as my connection and xbox just ceased working.

Wanker.
There are some right nobs on live. I can't stand even a slight lag from controller to xbox. The most annoying thing for me is when you press a button on the pad and it takes about half a second longer for the player to do the command on the game. This rarely happens but when it does it is drastic due to the way i dribble.

I've just had this problem. How is it even possible?
I was winning 2-0 at half time, none of the goals coming from open play obviously. The guy quit and said he was bored.

No worries. Great game.
That goal you scored in the first game was outstanding. Cole and Yorke against Barcelona sort of thing.

If you noticed, my football is always on the floor. Only time it is in the air is either 1) goal kick or 2) over the top through ball. I never cross in the air in a game ever, it's only one two pass.

You are a very good player, you know how to pull out defenders and then play the through ball. Also defensively you are very good as well.

One time, I'll have to play you with me as United as that's obviously the team I regularly use. I only used Chelsea because Arsenal/Liverpool are four and half star and if you go to La Liga, Barca is the n00b team.

My heading and aerial ability is very poor. How's yours?

I often use the cross, usually along the floor or mid height. I've been trying to score more goals from out the box as well of late, rather then pass it into the goal. I'm shite defensively.

I noticed there can be guests in game, there was 2 guests in the game I was in once. Any idea how to become a guest because I'd like to watch two of my friends play as I made a bet on one who would win.

You plug in a 2nd controller. A mate does it, I usually play against him and his cousin. It's different to playing 1 v 1. If they're good at the game then they can easily find space for each other. I.e making runs that the computer doesn't etc.
