I'm relatively new to the entire console gaming experience. even though i've played all the Fifa games on PC. I'm getting a PSP as a gift, so can anyone recommend some good games for it. Not really into First person shooters.... sports, racing, fighting(tekken types) are more my kind of thing.
GTA series is ace

FM2007 (dont think 08 is out yet)

I bought mine for flights/journeys etc, but find I mainly use it for movies, family guy etc

the games are in my desk at work and have been for over a month

Defending is all about positioning and if you go out for a tackle, you need to get that tackle in. I try to avoid sliding, if you miss the man and the ball you can be fucked.

I only slide as a last resort to be honest. Never have gone to ground on football games as frequently as i should do.

I feel the refs are pretty lenient compared to past games

I'll take it you didn't get what I was saying. "If you miss the man and the ball" so basically not getting anything which would allow someone so much space behind you.

True, but I wouldn't recommend missing your tackles in any football game

I have something like around 210 wins and a bit over 70 losses, I'm ranked 226th at the moment, on a streak of 9.

I noticed there's people with a better win/loss difference than me but ranked lower but that's because you have to look at the average opponent level. If you're consistently playing people who are of skill level 1, you won't be moving high in the rankings

I get the same.

My new tactic is never to be more than 2 goals ahead of an opponent.

There are no weather effects apart from sunshine.

EA Sports say that they didn't include weather effects because they wanted to perfect them first, for instance, when it's raining, it effects the way the game is played i.e the ball is slippery etc and players look wet and the pitch gets muddy etc

Unfortunately for them I think they have lost a lot of their crowd to the growing popularity for PES. I for one am never buying another FIFA after their disappointing release of FIFA 08. It's rubbish.

PES has probably just lost all the hard work they have put in in the last few years with one single game release. At least FIFA try to improve there games each year granted failing most of the time. PES have basically just taken there fans for a ride taking bits out of the game with no real improvement.

When I go to play online, it asks me if I want to download squad update, and that I'll have to to play online, will this overwrite all the editing I've done like stats and boots etc ?

If yes, is there a way of preventing this ?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't read the content of this thread and I'm not planning to, so I'll say my piece

I rented PES08 and really enjoyed it. I then went and bought Fifa 2008. Initially I didn't like it because I felt it was a little sluggish. It grew on me, and now I actually prefer it to PES2008

I think that PES2008 does too much work for you, and I like the way in Fifa 08 you have a lot of control over your moved. It makes scoring a lot more satisfying

It's an element that Fifa seem to have addressed, as I recall playing Fifa about 5 years back and scoring some spectacular goals. I was left kinda thinking 'yeah like fuck I did that' and reckoned there was a little bit of devine intervention from the playstation angels

Was beating someone 3-0. A 1st half hat trick from Rooney, I wasn't playing particularly well but was taking my chances very well, against someone who had racked up a lot more games then myself, and he goes and quits at half time.

No, just save it like it says and you'll play online with the correct teams/stats etc.

Go out of xbox live and you'll have your edits.

I think I manage to finish about a third of matches I'm winning in ranked matches. Got some right cunts playing online now I assume all it effects is their DNF rating... which you can't see when you are first drawn against them (can you?)

I wish they'd do something about that.

You can search for people with say DNF of below 10% etc. They should if they quit be made to accept a 3-0 defeat and the opposition should get credited for it. It's stupidly annoying.

I was winning 6 - 0 earlier with 88 minutes gone, the other guy passes the ball to his keeper and scores an own goal on purpose and then quits.

Nope.

Doubt PES has anything different there though? Can't be bothered to put my game in.
