That is a problem, yes, but not unsurmountable.

For example, you could have GT5 Prologue now, I don't think that it having Japanese text would distract from the experience.

Yes but that is just a racing simulator, you could easily enjoy thta in Japanese. But what about if in FF, you want to kill a boss of with your limit break, but you give them an x-potion instead?

FF storylines are so deep anyway, definately need it in English.

I think the dialogue would be more of a problem.

My analogy of the Jap version was a joke. The dialogue not being in English was precisely my point.

I'd hazard a guess that it's just after Zack dies, and when Cloud heads to Midgar considering the nature of FF7.

Just downloaded Final Fantasy 6. It's brilliant; i just wish i'd played it back in the day. It's got an absolutely fantastic storyline and soundtrack.
As for Square-Enix, i'm still pissed off at how badly they teased us about FF7 on the PS3! I'd buy a PS3 just for that if it ever came out.

FF7 was the most astounding game ever to me, left an impact on me as I remember it in my childhood...Red XIII always reminded me of United too.

The NES and SNES versions were good. Everything after that started to go down hill and get way too bizarre for my taste.

As to the greatest games of all time...FF isn't even close on my list nor most peoples lists.

XCOM, Baldurs Gate 1&2 and Fallout tend to come up in most peoples number 1 slot.

How can you make such a huge generalisation?

I think you'll find FF7, is much higher than any of those in the top games lists anyways, hell WoW is probably higher.

EDIT: This is without mentioning Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Sonic the Hedgehog, Lemmings, and a whole host of other games...generalisations = silly.

It isn't a generalization.

Look up any major media outlet top game lists.

Those 3 will feature prominently.

Well shit. The first site I went to with a list.

http://pc.ign.com/articles/772/772285p3.html

Granted that is PC only.

Final Fantasy really isn't in the same league as any of those three.

Baldurs Gate 2 stands pretty much alone in it the length and depth of its story line. This is combined with the fantastic infinity engine. Bioware does great stories without having to rely on heavy anime and hentai elements to draw in the guys who fantasize about railing 11 year old asian girls.

Fallout, what can you say about it? Personally I didn't play it when it was not terribly dated. However the game set a new standard in terms of freedom of action in an RPG. It is still untouched in this regard. Since you desperately want me to generalize here is one. You can graph the depth of gameplay inversely to the quality of graphics in a game.

XCOM. If you didn't play it I feel sorry for you. It is the greatest turn based tactical squad game of all time. The game was fantastically creepy. The atmosphere was amazing. The role playing elements for your squad management were brilliant. The depth of gameplay is again unrivaled for its genre. I still remember how stressed out I would get on terror missions when chrysalids would come charging out of the shadows and turn 2 of my best troopers into zombies. The game is legendary period. It wasn't a rehash, it defined an entire genre.

I'm with you on Baldur's Gate 2.

Easily the deepest and best written game ever.

Planescape:Torment is apparently the greatest of the infinity engine games, its from black Ilse Studios who also worked on BG2, I've never got it to work on my computer

Black Isle did Torment and Icewind Dale 1 and 2. Bioware leased the infinity engine to Black Isle for those games. Bioware did BG1 and BG2 + expansions for both. Black Isle published BG1 and BG2 which is why they are on the boxes ;p

Torment was pretty good. I believe it released between BG1 and BG2. For whatever reason Torment tended to be very highly regarded by hardcore Fallout fans.

That's why Xcom rewarded patience... I had a fucking army of superhuman troopers, so I'd waste about 80% of chrysalids before they got near enough. Happy days.

I did enjoy TFTD more than UFOD though. I must have been the only one in the world who did.

A Final Fantasy 7 remake seems to be the biggest demand on fans' lists these days, and so original director Kitase speaks about the possibility!

After a quick mention of his most recent title, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 (which he produced), he goes on to talk about the demand and possibilities of seeing as remake of the iconic original.

"My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers.

The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy 13 and those projects are going to take a while.

Maybe, when all those games are finished then we can look at doing something like that.

Of course, that said we came up with the idea for Crisis Core in just two days. It was a case of 'this is what we want to do, so let's do it'. So, you can definitely expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point, but it's hard to predict."

So there you have it folks - it is indeed still a possibil
