I'm going to pick this game up tomorrow. So I'll probably join that online league you're talking about.

When i had 06 and 07, i started as United, usually ended up doing shite - played it for a month then never picked the game up again. Would you recommend an FM noob to start as a League 1 club? I fancy a challenge... or would it be best to start in the Premiership with players/teams I'm familiar with, until i get better at the game?

Well, both are good but with United theres only a little bit you can realy do (win doubles, sign world class players etc) whereas you get so much more out of FM with a lower league side (get promoted and make your small club massive and your signings are key which makes it realy special.

League 1 is a good place to start. But dont do MLS i tried it with Galaxy and there are so many stupid rules there and when i quit i had to join a Blue Square South side! then I left and joined Rochdale who were in the Blue Square Prem, i got them up to League 2 and im currently on my way to League 1

Just finished my second season with sunderland,

came 2nd in prem (by 3 points, le arse won), the only thing i won was the champions league (my team were quality through out) beat Barca in the final.

Im on my third season at the moment with United. First season I won the title ahead of Chelsea by 2 points, it went down to the last day (weird). Second season I won it again but on goal difference, I had +45 and Chelsea had +44, all to do with me thrashing Sunderland 4 - 0 on the last day. Also won the Champions League, beating Arsenal in the final.

Fletcher buggered off to Madrid, the bastard

How do I arrange friendlies? I always just seem to play only Bury in every pre-season.

Best thing to do is go to manager option and tick the box which says "Assisstant manager arranges friendly matches"

If you want to arrange your own though go to your fixtures screen and click arrange match, then just choose whoever.

I'm playing Sunderland too, finished 13th in the first season and thought I had accomplished something very good.

Now I read you win the Champions League in the second season, I'm quite disappointed with myself.

By the way at the start of the season i added £15mil to start with (i felt that Niall Quinn would Give at least this amount of money to Keano).

I also sold the majority of my squad, got like 5/6mil for Kenwyne Jones.

Kieran Richardson has become like a prime time Beckham on my game (no free kicks). To be fair I've been fairly lucky with my players consistantly over acheiving (or maybe my wonderful management).

I'll just open my game and get a print screen.

Bloody hell that is impressive. I got Newport county from blue square south to premiership in FM07 but once I got there I got bored. How the hell do you keep going for like 20 seasons!!

@ Diver screenshot: I bought Ignasevich and Arshavin too. Don't know the rest of the players. Richardson was my best player in season 1, with most assists.

I always play in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 kind of tactic.

I agree, I used to cheat all the time when I was about 12/13, but then it just became so boring I decided to start over.
