One thing that annoys me with FM is the transfers. First of all, not enough top players move up about. I mean, it doesn't have to happen all the time, but I usually find the best players in the game will spend their career at one club unless i'm the one that buys them.
I'll use Fabregas as an example. I think every game i've played he's stayed at Arsenal, despite them doing utterly shit and having about 12 different managers. Okay, there are certain players that are untouchable, but it gets boring seeing the top players not moving about when it would happen in real life. And for my next point, i'll expand on the previous and use Fabregas as another example. I'll like to see more 'saga' style transfers from the computer. I want players and staff to make comments in the media, I want the player to change his mind about leaving and staying every couple of months. Finallly, transfer fees. I know the market is inflated at the moment, but most players in the game should be available at between £30 - £40 million surely. Some of the fees you get quoted for are just plain silly. |

Sometimes I think that as well, regarding the transfer fee. But in my latest game some really top players were being bought for fees between £20 million and £40 million. It's still probably an issue, but I feel it's smaller than it has been before. Same with the big players being transferred thing. I actually saw quite a lot of that in my last game. Perhaps that needs to be upped too.
The 'saga' thing is a great idea. It would do a lot for the playability and feeling of being "in" the game. |

Having finally read up on FM 2012 Football Manager 2012: Miles Jacobson interview - Telegraph, Football Manager 2012 announced | Technology | guardian.co.uk I'm really really impressed so far. If the competition editor is better, I think i'll give it full marks, but the fact you can stop and start leagues in the middle of a game, and multiple tabs is enough for me to say it's brilliant without having played it

I buy them every other year. There isn't enough improvement to buy them every year. That said I think I'll get this one.
Anyone know where it is currently cheapest to pre order, last time was Zavvi wasn't it? |

It is a lot better, in my opinion. People do like being nostalgic and overrating the older games, me included. Oh, I spent a lot of time on 97/98 and 01/02 in particular, but as games in today's world, the new ones are better. Pretty sure there are some fairly big new features since 08 as well, and optimizations of the new features.

Yeah I miss the arrows as well. I know we've got arrows in this as well if we like but they're just up or down arrows and not the curving ones which were much better. People were saying it was too easy to create a 'cheat tactic' with it but then thats a pathetic reason to stop them, if you don't like cheat tactics then don't bloody use them!

From what I've read, the arrows were actually a bad idea. Or rather, the only solution they had at the time. They didn't create realistic tactics, and they didn't do what most people thought they did. I'm glad they're gone.

Yeah next month, but the real release date for me is when the demo comes out, gives you 6 months and then when the real game comes out you can carry on playing.
I think the new feature of being able to select / de-select leagues to play in midway through the game on FM12 is one of the biggest improvements they could have made... This will change my gaming experience big time |

The other improvement I like is to do with the newgens. I like the idea that we can now look at the players that are put into our youth team for next season and that newgens from different countries tend to have specific traits.

I never play the demo all the way through, because I want my full game to have a custom database. I do like to take a look at players, though, and get a good idea of how the start of the game will be.

I love the detail they put into the match engine. It's the game's best feature. I'm fully confident that they'll improve the game so much this year as they did the last. Not worried about the bugs either because they sort them out patch by patch.

Demo is out. As usual I'll just have a quick look, see how the situation is for the teams I'll play, etc.
Also, I already love it. In preferences you can now change the colour of certain things. Like low/average/high/excellent player attributes, which is something I always did manually with some editing in skins. Gonna save me a tiny bit of bother, and I love how they included that. |

Fuck. I had written a whole essay on player attributes and a bit of changes but I got wiped out because I hit the mousepad by accident just before I pressed backspace. Fucking fuck.

For a few FM's now (can't remember exactly when I started with it) I've had the attributes go from (worse > better) bright red, dark red, dark green, bright green. I think it looks so much better than the shades of white and blue. |

Big change I've noticed. How to find good coaches. Usually it was based on the formula surround the DDM (Determination, Discipline and Motivating). Now I see Scholes has 4 stars as a shooting coach, 3,5 stars in attacking and ball control.
These are his stats. Spoiler
As you can see his numbers look crap if it were the older FM game but here he's a good coach. Gonna make coach searching a but more frustrating. |

Actually, unless I'm completely mistaken, nothing has changed. Unless I'm calculating this wrong, he'd be a 4 star shooting coach and 3.5 ball control/attacking coach. That 17 determination and 17 technical just about gets him up there.
