What are the chances of me getting this on the day it's released?

I know it's sold out at Game and every online company under the sun are over subscribed but will I get it in say HMV in town on the day it's out?

Maybe, if you're willing to pay £49.99, HMV are cunts when it comes to games.

Your eye works to amalgamate consecutive frames to create a mental image though. So saying "that's how it looks" is misleading, you don't play the game by having time to analyse individual frames. From a gaming perspective rather than a purely technical one, its the subjective illusion it creates when playing that matters, not individual frame buffer grabs.

Depends where you live really, in my little isolated London borough, there was hundreds of halo 3 copies around on release day.

I don't blame you mate.

I pre-ordered GTA from GAME, but if they charge me over £49.99 they can fuck off. I'll just go to Asda or Woolworths.

Their prices are ridiculous, they still charge 50 quid for Call Of Duty and Fifa 08.

I normally use my local Blockbuster store, they have a trade scheme. It can work pretty well except when you want a new game, they usually charge a lot more.

I really fancy this game, will be a bit more difficult than San Andreas though seeing as I didn't have kids then. It'll take me years to finish it.

I know how the eye works, that's not the issue. Individual frame buffer grabs give you the image quality of the game. Nobody is saying that it's not a decent game, but rather that it looks not so "awesome" as some seem to think from the image quality perspective, and is certainly not a 10 in the graphics department. What are you arguing here?

I don't know much about the graphics having only seen a few clips. But which games have better graphics?

Just arguing that you have to judge it from video footage as opposed to single frames. That's all. I'm not particularly sticking up for GTA, the graphics may not be great, I haven't played it yet to judge.

I just took a "date" there to see one of his shows in the game. Was quite good. Haven't seen Gervais yet.

I've never heard so much Stevie Nicks and Marvin Gaye in one 24hr period in my life.

Talk radio is where it's at anyway.

Is there a lot of repetitive conversation like in previous games?

It changes the further you progress in the game. The internet cafe's are probably the best source for news. It's a lot like Hitman: Blood Money where they showed you a newspaper article after completing each mission. After each one here you can log on and read the paper and see the journos wet themselves over how many people you killed the night before.

Aye, it's quality. Nothing like escaping the pigs to some Bob and The Wailers

It's shaping up that way, others will probably get more benefit out of it than me though because I don't use multiplayer. I'd say I'm about 30% of the way through it. The cover system is what's impressed me more than anything so far, and the story is obviously epic. 30% through and I've already seen double crossings, executions, betrayals, set ups that would only have been seen right at the end or as climaxes in the other GTA's.

Basically how good are the graphics?? As good as anything you've seen yet?? or was that 10/10 graphics rating a tad ridiculous?

I'd say 8 would be fairer. The only time I've been stopped by the graphics is when driving through LC's equivilent of Time Square, but they are pretty special
