Good idea. Never heard of Living Colour before. They remind of Faith No More slightly. Although i'm still on the first song.

Definitely true in my case. Finished listening to the album and quite enjoyed Elvis Is Dead and the Sunshine Of Your Love cover, but stick to my original opinion, not really for me.

Looking forward to hearing what gets posted tomorrow now.

I would do this, even though it's going to take next to three years! Unfortunately my spotify is out of date, so I can't use it. And the stupid download link for the newest version on the stupid spotify website has been surf blocked by my stupid uni IT crowd. So unless I can find a megaupload link for the spotify installer, I'm out of luck.

Cheers mate

Don't know how well known they are or if any of you will even like it but I love this album at the minute.

Is this a new day? PhilipNumbers posted on the stroke of midnight, but I assume it counts as yesterday (since no other album was posted), and I don't like Black Keys so we need something else.

Spot on.

I thought it was one per day, today's being the Black Keys. Good choice though, I saw her at the Roadhouse ages ago supporting Sleater-Kinney (I think).

Timony and Sleater-Kinney?! I've never had the great fortune of seeing any of them live.

Maybe as well as posting the number, whoever posts an album can try posting the date to avoid confusion? I know it sounds a little daft considering the date is on the post, but if it is posted at midnight it might confuse...

About to give Black Keys a listen now.

You missed out mate. Sleater-Kinney were a brilliant live band. I also got to have a nice chat with Carrie Brownstein when I saw her and a friend looking at the map at my bus stop opposite Piccadilly Gardens back in 1999. When I bumped into her again (purely by chance) in London a few days later she looked a bit concerned. They were playing at ULU on the same bill as Cat Power, Yo La Tengo, Blues Explosion, etc.

Sounds brilliant. Somebody ought to put One Beat up later. That is a masterpiece that should be known to everyone.

Oddly that is possibly my least favourite record by them - either that or All Hands on the Bad One. I by far prefer Dig Me Out, The Hot Rock or The Woods. I imagine most people would not enjoy any of those though, the singing is very much "love it or hate it" in my experience.

Saw these guys a couple of weeks ago and it reminded me how much I enjoyed this album on release. Relatively successful in the charts, but it always surprises me how few people I've met who actually listened to the album.

I'm a bit behind, just finished listening to the first album.

I have to say, I've never been a fan of metal, but I enjoyed that Living Color compilation. There was almost always an underlying funky groove in each song, which enabled me to appreciate the crashing sounds better. That guitar solo in the first song was epic.

Nice idea for a thread Burndogg, hopefully I'll get to put a few of mine in here.

Delphic After hearing a lot of hype about this group including the TV ad for the album which proclaims them 'the future of dance music' I was expecting big things of Acolyte and I'd say I've been left a little underwhelmed. Starts off quite slowly before kicking in quite nicely on track 4 - Red Lights, from there the album is pretty good up to track 6 (still listening atm) but I wouldn't say I'm blown away. It's probably got enough about it for me to go back for a second listen at some point so maybe it will grow on me but so far it's a 6.5/10 album.

Edit:finished it now, probably dropped down to a 5.5/6 now

I give you Mary Timony - Ex Hex. Prematurely advertised by myself, and prematurely endorsed by decorativeed.

I've decided quoting your own previous beaten selection doesn't count as a new entry.
