Moving music files (making them small)

I want to move some music from my desktop to my laptop. The files are currently huge and do not fit on my tiny memory stick.

I don't understand all this jibber-jabber about compressing files and different formatting types to makes the files smaller. Please explain to me in simple English how I go about doing what I need to be doing.

go to folder option and show hidden files

you'll probably find something huge and not needed has written itself on there

Nope tried that. Nothing on there at all. I think it must have been damaged some how.

I've found an old 512MB stick tho, so that's fine for now.

I was going to ask how big these files are.

If you would like to sort out your usb stick then as a last resort 'format' the drive - right click on it in my computer - that should sort it.

If that doesn't work its probably damaged beyond repair - it may not let you format it as well if that is the case.

Note that you will loose anything currently on there if you do format it.
