I hear the next two, scheduled for Christmas time, are supposed to be gobsmackers. A double episode. 3 hours.

Was a decent enough episode. Bit of a random time for a special though, seems like it was only done to set up the next special. They should've just had a Torchwood style mini-series over Christmas time.

It was a very good episode. In many ways it was perhaps the bleakest yet, seeing the personal troubles of the Doctor regarding his paranoia concerning his possible death and his need to fight it, as well as his character becoming maniacal and selfish near the end.....

Fully agree.
I Finally caught up with it on BBC iplayer..... it was rather dark and complex but as brilliant as ever. Can't wait for the return of John Simms as the Master at Christmas!!

The writers seem to have decided to completely ruin everything David Tennant has done for the show over the past few years, in a matter of 2 episodes. Wtf is going on?

Great, fast torrent.
Loved it. Next week won't come too soon. Like the way the story evolves from a front room to the end of the Universe. And a new doctor in the next episode.........this one's cracking up fast. I'm in for a treat next week.

It's a kids show. People have far to many expectations on it. Enjoy it for the mindless fun it is.

That is a whole new debate

In my opinion Doctor Who shouldnt be a "kids show".

Should be more like Torchwood in terms of what it can and can't do

Doctor Who was always aimed at the kids/family entertainment. It's why Kidsfind it scary and were not bothered. (Except for Blink. That episode was freaky) It's also the end of the Rusell T davies run, who has always believed it should be light enterainment and handing over to Steve Moffat who is far more into his classic British Sci-Fi. Expect the next series to go that bit more darker. It will never though go for the dark Torchwood style of the Children of Earth.

Agreed. The first 45minutes were a little bit shit really, but the last 10-15minutes were a lot better and set up a good 2nd episode

I think you will find the problem is the way viewing standards have changed. What used to be acceptable is now not. We always need a happy ending where things reset themselves and everyone lives happily every after.

The original Who was not like this. Companions were killed off and happy ending were not always the final result of what happened.

The original Who was an educational programme. I expect under Moffats reign we'll return to a more Tom Bakerish era.

Wouldn't say it was an educational programme to be fair.

The new Who though is far too soft. The complaints it gets from people could be easily avoided if it didn't have to fill a critera which in my opinion, is far too childish at times.

The better episodes from the New Who have been the darker ones by a mile.
