PS3 Codec Pack

I use my PS3 to watch all sorts of downloaded movies (all entirely legal - promise) but it annoys me that some types of avi won't play.

So is there a decent codec pack for the PS3?

Or do you have to download and install an OS like Linux?

Or are there official PS3 codec packs?

or?

90% of the ones I download do but the exceptions are annoying.

I might try that redkawa software because I tend to play films from DVD's I burn. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks.

redkawa is excellent imo, 4-5 films on one disc, then you can either just keep the disc and play them from that, or put them onto the ps3.

I now tend to put them onto my phone, take them and put them on the ps3 and then I'm sorted, store on computer if they're any good, delete altogether if it was crap

Glad I could help
