Recommend a new show?
A load of the shows I watch are winding down now. Scrubs has finished, Prison Break is finished, Lost has one season left, so does 24, etc... and I think I might need a new show.
A list of a few shows I like, to help get an idea: Lost, Prison Break, Dexter, Scrubs, 24, Arrested Development, Inbetweeners, Futurama/South Park/Simpsons/Family Guy. What do you lot recommend I start watching? |

My favorite drama series is House where Hugh Laurie is excellent, he gives a Golden Globe worthy performance in every episode and the character he plays is probably the most intriguing one I've ever seen. I don't understand why people in the UK don't like House.
As far as comedies go, The Office US is the best comedy series right now. Also, 30 Rock and How I Met Your Mother are two quite enjoyable series. |

The Wire, House, Curb Your Enthusiam and US version of the Office seem to stand-outs for me from what I've heard and seen briefly on TV. Which is the best of those? Or does it depend what type of show I'm looking for?
Is House a comedy? What's The Wire about? |

The Sopranos - Some of the best TV ever made, incredible
The Wire - Same as above Generation Kill - Excellent mini-series Curb - The best comedy series on TV, Larry David's alter ego is a hero The Unit - Hardly breaks the mould, cheesy a times but not bad if you just wanna watch some action |

The Sopranos is probably the best written TV show ever. I could watch the the Pine Barrens episode and the Christoper intervention scene again and again! Thought the last season was a real let down, though. Overall, The Wire is the most rewarding programme to watch. It's like the writers had decided on the story for all the seasons decided from the get go. Every single character has a story arc which fits in perfectly with everyone elses. |

I've started watching 'Southland' - which is a cop show based in LA (yes another one..). It's got Ryan from the OC in it as some Rookie Cop - I'm 4 episodes in but I like it. Good story, good directing and decent acting. Plus its pretty brutal which is what you want from cop dramas IMO.
Anyone else heard of this? |

Lie to me on sky one looks like it could be decent, I watched the first episode last week and it has the potential to be a regular watch for me!
Another one i've seen advertised that looks like it could be good is 'The Take' that's to be shown on sky 1 through June. just two suggestions i've not seen in this thread already! |

If you like Sci Fi then the Battlestar Galactica's that have just finished and Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles are/were both great.
Fringe has been a slow burn but if you ever liked the Xfiles then this is in a similar vein and we have come to enjoy it. I have caught a few episode of Damages with Glen Close and although it was hard to figure out because it was mid-series, the structure, direction and characterisation were very classy. |
