I say give it a go. I like it and own it, but it's certainly not for everyone.

The Orphanage, though this won't be on at yer average multiplex.

Also, In Bruges, with Colin Farrell. Saw it last night, it's a good laugh

Watched I, Robot on Film4 last night, well about an hour and half of it. Was better than I expected. Sure it could've been a shedload better. . . I would've love to have seen Kubrick's vision for example, but it was watchable nonetheless. The robots looked shite, though. . .in fact the computer graphics were awful on the whole. However, If you're expecting Blade Runner then you'll be disappointed.

The Dreamers

A pretencious skin-fest about a young, incestuous French brother and sister pair who take befriend an American student after they bond over their mutual love of film. The student then pops the girl's cherry, before proceeding to wipe the blood all over her face. There's lots of old Hollywood and French new wave references for film buffs to wank to, as well as some great sex scenes featuring the fit-as-fuck Eva Green for everyone else to wank to. The problem with the film is that it uses France's radical late 60s political climate as an exterior backdrop to the insulated, sex-charged world that the trio occupy, and there's a lack of coherence in the way the two interact. The dialogue is also cringingly bad at times, as the film evokes the usual cliche hippy era conversations about war, socialism, equality and which guitarist is better out of Hendrix and Clapton. All in all though, there's been worse films.

7/10

I quite like I Robot.

I agree with the Kubrick shout, he would have made the film something else.

Just saw: He was a Quiet Man.

Another one of those movies, which you feel should have been much better than they turned out. It was stuck between a dark comedy and just dark drama. The ending did not help, the last 15 min sequence all together was out of place. Anyway a good watch and Christian Slater delivers a good performance as well.

Persepolis

Big hype around this movie version of an Iranian graphic novel but it was a sad let down both in its simplistic and cursory political analysis and its trivial personal story. When we go to see edgy animation we expect Simpsons, Family Guy or South Park - this simply doesn't cut it.

Eastern Promises - Viggo is pretty good but the plot wasn`t anything too interesting.

Saw the french rom-com Hors de Prix. It wasn`t funny and it wasn`t romantic which just left it being french. Although Audrey Tatou would get it in so many ways. Oh yes.

The Prestegie - Quite good. The ending, lacked surprise value. Bale was OK, Hugh Jackman was very good. Seen Batman Begins and this one of Bale's and unsure what the hype about him is all about. Good actor but not really as great as he's made out to be.

Butterfly Effect - Strictly good. There is something about the movie which did seem wrong though. Probably analysing emotions as science experiments. Plus the performances weren't all that. Preferred Eternal Sunshine much more.

I actually enjoyed I Am Legend, although it was spoiled by the ending. That's two Will Smith films I've watched in a week and I didn't hate either of them.

It's an alright film, but as you say the ending does let it down.

I have actually downloaded an alternate ending version, not watched it yet so don't know if it's any better.
