FFS. Why must they ruin all good movies?
Lack of originality.

Just watched The Mirror(Zerkalo). Brilliant film. I think I got the gist of it. Felt surreal and haunting in parts. Loved the last 30-40 mins in particular.

So do you burn every movie on a CD after downloading it?

An excellent movie. One of the best war movies ever. Right up there with Apocalypse now and FMJ.

Been on my to see list for ages.

Mehro likes it. . . which means there are probably a lot of people sticking bananas up their arses.

It's haunting in the Deer Hunter kind of way only worse because the protagonist is a kid.

Michael Cimino. I've just seen his film catalogue. The Deer Hunter really was an anomaly wasn't it?

Das Boot, The Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now are the best three that I have seen. All focus on different aspects of war and all. Come and See I hope will be up there.

I really don't want to get my hopes up though.

Yeah, he didn't do too many movies. Never seen or heard of anything else by him.

Good choices...maybe with Downfall thrown in, too?

Same goes for Deric Washburn, who co wrote The Deer Hunter.

Weird.

Yeah, great movie. Didn't think it was as good as those three, though. But I've only seen it once. The bloke who played Hitler was amazing.

Seen some decent German movies.

True. I may have praised it too much already. Forget everything I said and just watch it.

I'd add FMJ to the list you made. A lot of people go on about Platoon but for me Platoon never added anything to the Vietnam war that we hadn't already seen in FMJ and Deer Hunter. Although Oliver Stone did say that he had tried to portray his own war experiences which I guess make it a little scary in a different kind of way.

Damn it, I don't want to go overboard with the praise but the first thought I had after watching Come and See was that it was better than Downfall. Both were good though.

Not seen FMJ for years. I'd love to watch it again. Same goes for Platoon. . . in fact I think I last watched Platoon in 87/88.

Nope. But I'd love to watch a few war films. I kind of get a thirst to watch a certain genre or films from the same region.

Anything with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepbburn in it together
Amelie
It's a Wonderful Life (how obvious is that choice?)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...well, it eventually becomes a feel good movie
Struggling for a fifth, so going for The Jerk, off the top of my head
