Thanks for putting me on Mehro. If anything this is a good excuse for watching a shed load of great movies.
Re-watched Dog Day Afternoon last night and will be ordering some dvd's shortly. Al Pacino was fantastic in that, really drove the film. |

10 films guaranteed to be in my top 20 at least. Paris, Texas, Hoop Dreams, Citizen Kane, 2001: A Space Odyssey, L'Avventura, Blade Runner, The Apartment, Manhattan, Apocalypse Now and Ikiru.
Yes I'm a crazy fool who prefers Apocalypse Now ever so slightly over The Godfather(both of which will still make my full list as will The Conversation thus probably making Coppola most prominent on it but I do consider his 70's run the greatest run ever by anyone.) How is ranking done, does your 1 get 100pts and 2nd 99pts and so on or are you doing it another way so that we don't have to be incredibly spot on with individual rankings. Like the same points for top 10, then less and less for each 10 after that? |

I think I preferred Apocalypse Now just over the Godfather also, in fairness, the top 5 films are all so close barely anything separates them.
Just re-watched American Beauty, I forgot how powerful that film was. Intense really, especially when you clock what he's talking about at the end and how that changes your whole perception of the film. I was writing a script a while ago that I simply tucked away, based around a Firebird, I almost want to complete it just simply out of affection for this film. Probably worth adding the final credits music: sensational stuff. |

No doubt a few Nolan hits will sneak in people's lists. Pick on them! |

so I just have to list films and argue for them, sounds easy enough, the only Nolan film that should have a shout in is the Prestige. Well as long as a Matter of life or death, 12 angry men, Kikujiro, Princess Mononoke, Salo, City of god and Raiders of the lost ark are included I'm game.

The higher Rashomon is placed the better the list is IMO. |

Agreed, I've got Ran on my to watch list, looking very forward to it. Raiders is just superb, watched it recently on DVD with just an upscaling dvd player and the clarity was superb, really stood the test of time well. I imagine on blu-ray it's brilliant. But as far as action adventure goes I can't think of a better film.

Why haven't Datura, Duffer, Mexos, UberScholes and Mockney got back to us?
And has anyone been missed out? If you feel you've been overlooked post a RC Top 100 watched list. |
