bump...

did anyone here see the American Top gear yet? watched most of one episode the other night on The History Channel (or something like that). I missed the start of it so it may have been the 1st episode.

anyway.... it was different cos of the American hosts of course, but the at the same time almost identical to the BBC one, from the studio design to the Stig character.

still not convinced about this remake.
Love the BBC version so it's going to be difficult to like the US one.

Yeah it was a fantastic opening episode. No stupid ski races or whatever, just pure flat out fun with some awesome cars.

I can't wait for the special on Boxing day, they're usually amazing.

Thought the episode was fairly average imo, far too scripted.

Sitcoms and stand up is scripted, it's still funny. That was a far better episode than a lot of the stuff they've churned out over recent years. In my humble opinion of course.

Most of these road trips and long races are scripted its a tv show. I thought tonight was very good I did like the other US road trips better but still good.

How is it that of the three cars picked, the bright red Ferrari is the least garish of the lot?

Because the Porsche crashed into Halfords Ripspeed department on it's way to the shoot? Dunno about the Merc though, I don't think it's garish really, with the possible exception of the doors.

One of the better episodes for a long time. Shame there was no aston, so I guess it's the Ferrari but only by default (though I would like the tail happy nature of the Merc, I'm a BMW man).
