What should I watch first?

Sent my missus out DVD shopping for me. I did a thread like this before to see what people liked the most, and it helped.

So, what should I watch first, and if you've seen these, any good?

Assasination of Jesse James
American Gangster
Michael Clayton
Sunshine
Disturbia (dont fancy this one much)
Babel
History of Violence
World Trade Centre (I know, I know - I didn't fcuking pick it!!)
Ghost Rider (Woo Hoo - two shit Nic Cage movies in a row)
A Scanner Darkly
The Machinist

Jesse James

It's long and it's slow. But it's amazing.

Cinematography is one of the best bits, might not come across so well on the small screen, mind you.

The Machinist and History of Violence are two very good movies, Babel is pretty poor.

I really liked Michael Clayton. Sort of slow moving, but it has a good story. World Trade Centre is shit.

The Machinist, History of Violence and Jesse James are worth a watch.

The rest you can throw out.

You should set fire to it, just to be sure you don't get drunk one night, and watch it because you can't find anything else. No one should have to see it. It's bad. Really, REALLY bad.

I have seen it - didnt really like it as it is a bit muddled and I found it difficult to get into

it is interesting just because of the way it was shot then animated but that is all

I am not generally a fan of Richard Linklaters movies so if you are a fan then it might be more up your street

Of those I've seen

Assasination of Jesse James= Amazing Film watch it 20X before you watch any of the others. A masterpiece that even includes a cameo for Nick cave.

American Gangster= Slightly overrated still worth a watch.

Sunshine= Don't waste your time.

Ghost rider= not much good worth a watch but nothing more.

The Machinist= Good idea hugely disappointing idea.

It was good, but pretty convoluted. The Machinist is also worth a watch.

Sunshine is excellent! Well, most of it, anyway.

Other than that, American Gangster and Michael Clayton are good movies. Babel and The Assassination of Jesse James aren't bad. A Scanner Darker is strange (but not Dark City-strange, which was awesome).

How anybody rates Sunshine as even above piss poor and then in the same post rates Assination of Jeese James as only not bad is beyond me.

Your personal opinions? yes. But really not worth the time you took to post them.

Assassination of Jesse James I thought was a brilliant film. See that first

Machinist was quite enjoyable and had Vertigo/Jacob's Ladder/Fight Club/Pi/Memento ad nauseum not been made it would be a classic. As it is it's far too derivative.

American Gangster was enjoyable but not particularly great. Too derivative as well.

Not seen the rest. Only Sunshine I intend to see anytime soon.

So you don't think it was worth my time to post them, but it was still worth your time to write a post about how it wasn't worth my time?

Excellent.
