Well that, in theory, is correct. I do also agree that on paper the PS3 should eventually overtake the 360. Although the blended animations comment I find interesting since I'm currently researching a number of variations on the 360 for my next project, so did you have a specific area in mind that the PS3 can better it?

However, I seriously doubt that the PS3 will pull ahead to any major degree. Call it pessimism, call it still being a little pissed of with the PS2 spin from Sony (similar to the early developer releases for 3), call it lazy developers, but I can see them being reasonably level (if not slightly better on the PS3, kind of like the difference between an XBox and Gamecube) for most of their lives.

Ps3 will pull away...

People's 360's are breaking.... instead of getting the same console, (some people have went through 3 or 4 already) They're opting for the ps3 now.

It's like.. the 360 was out first so been played to death, now the ps3 is the new kid on the block, people want it.

In terms of sales maybe. But sales figures aren't the be-all and end-all of owning a video game console.

People really should spend what they can afford, and if they can afford both then they should get them if they like games that much.

I would go for the PS3, for £299 it is an absolute bargain for what you get in the box. You can probably find a stack of deals around on the internet aswell which will throw in a couple of games and an extra pad for probably around £20 extra (If not the same).

Added to that it has Haze and MGS4 (Exclusives) out over the next month or so, which look superb. Add to that it will have the likes of Little Big Planet, FFXIII, Heavy Rain (Which looks more like a Blu-Ray movie than a game, graphics are stunning), GT5 amongst many others and you have a superb console with a wide variance of games.

If you're bothered about the lightness of the controller, just import a Dual Shock 3, which are heavier and have rumble along with sixaxis (Which I never use to be honest)

PSN is free if youu want to be playing online, and more features are due to be added in the summer (Such as in-game XMB).

The reason I traded my 360 in for a PS3 was because of the sheer amount of exclusives it has. The only ones of note due out in the next year or so on the 360 are Halo Wars, Gears of War 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction (Which will all probably come to PC anyway).

If you do get the PS3 howver there is on huge problem that awaits you..... dust!

Also the 360 sounds like a hoover, and the failure rates still haven't been sorted out and are still around 10%. (Mine broke twice).

Depending on what broke, his warranty shouldn't matter. Tell him to go on xbox.com and search for the problem. They've been repairing the lot of them for free, shipping included. Mine took a shit about 4 weeks ago, got it back in a week after I sent it in. I had a first gen system.

I really don't care to watch movies on my consoles, but I will be getting a PS3 soon for the BR player. Sure, I'll pick up games that are PS3 exclusive, but if it's multiplatform I'll always buy on the 360. I love the controls and I love the setup.

What did I say that wasn't fact?

And the PS3 is a huge dust magnet, as anybody who has one will know.

I disagree with everything you said, that wasn't a fact.

No, the 40GB model. Which it is.

Just because you disagree with it, doesn't make it wrong.

And I never had a problem with dust with the 360.

Have you had a look at the work Naughty Dog did for Uncharted? It's quite interesting, and I think they used a single SPU for the system in that game. Uncharted can be done on the XB360 without any problems IMO, so I'm not talking it up to be something out of this world, just a decent starting point. It's impressive in the sense that it has been done from a developer starting from scratch - from the entire engine up, as under the PS2, all Naughty Dog code was done in their own proprietary LISP based engine which they threw in the bin.

I got about £100 for my ps2 and games (old school fat ps2 too) if you're willing to trade that in the price begins to tumble.

I was talking about its animation blending system in this case, rather than gameplay, but yes, it wasn't bad.

Naughty Dog is definitely one of my favorite devs next to Ubisoft.Their work on the Jak and Daxter was awesome, and I can't wait to play Uncharted. Hoping for a new J&D series.
