FC United have been invited to play a friendly against an All Star team from Djurgardens IF Fotboll, commonly known as Djurgarden. The game will be played on the evening of Friday 22 May 2009 at their famous Stockholms Olympiastadion, capacity 14,000. Djurgarden are from Stockholm and play in the Allsvenskan, which is the highest league in Sweden. They’ve been champions 3 times in the 21st century and drew away to Juventus in the Champions League qualifiers in 2004.

Quote:
The match is being organised by Jarnkaminerna, their fans’ organisation, which has always been inspired by English supporter culture and a lot of their members are already aware of the story behind FC United. Djurgarden are involved in many community activities, particularly working in alliance with AIK and Hammarby, the other major teams, in Stockholm to fight against potential racism and hooliganism. They are also the Swedish representative in an international partnership to share community work for which Charlton Athletic are the English participants. This game will form part of Djurgarden’s well respected community initiatives.

A delegation from Djurgarden and Jarnkaminerna will be at the home game v Leigh Genesis today to work on final plans for this match and the associated community and social events for the weekend.

I read about this game on the blog of a swedish FCUM-fan and thought that I should go. Completely forgot about the whole thing though. Did you enjoy it and were there many mancs attending? The swede I´m talking about is named Michael Holmqvist, maybe you know him? He moved to manc to follow Manchester United but choosed to follow FC instead after the Glazer takeover.
