Even more signings!!

FC going foreign

"FC United are pleased to announce the signing of pacey forward Carlos Roca and manager Karl Marginson expressed his delight at having secured his signature:

“I have been trying to sign Carlos for three seasons, he is pure quality and I am delighted that he will be joining us next season,” said Margy. “Carlos is an ambitious player and after being released by Altrincham he had a number of clubs chasing his signature but he decided to sign for FC United after hearing reports about the fantastic support at matches. I am confident he will prove to be a great signing for the club.”

Jerome Wright and Sam Ashton have both signed new contracts for next season and have also cited the special atmosphere at the club as the main reason for doing so. “It was great to be asked to sign on for the club again,” said Ashton. “Despite being a Bolton Wanderers fan the club has grown on me since I have been here and I now feel that I am FC through and through and cannot wait for the new season to begin.”

A number of clubs have tried to capture the signature of Jerome Wright over the last few weeks but he decided to stay with FC United. “Even though other clubs had offered me more money, I was glad to sign a new contract with FC next season,” said Jerome. “Receiving the supporters’ player of the year award was very special for me last season and convinced me that signing on again was the right thing to do.”

Carlos started as a trainee with Oldham Athletic, making it through the ranks to make eleven first team appearances during the 04/05 season. The pacy midfielder was offered a place at Carlisle and made fifteen appearances, before being loaned to Northwich Victoria in February 2005. Steve Burr liked what he saw, and when Carlos was not getting the first team action he craved, offered him a role at Northwich at the start of the 05/06 season. He was an ever present player at Northwich and became a fans favourite being dubbed Rocky by the fans. He made 85 appearances for the Vics, scoring 11 goals and appeared at the Stadium of Light when Vics played Sunderland (forcing their keeper, McCarthy) into a very good save. Steve Burr was such a fan he was determined to bring Carlos with him to Bower Fold, and two games into the season, did so.

It's just at the top of the thread it says "FC United gone foreign". I presume they meant Carlos Roca was foreign. He is English.
