I knew there great run of consecutive promotion would slow down eventually, I was hoping they'd at least make it into the league though.

Are they playing shite or have they just had a run of tough teams?

Wouldn't say they was playing shite
If anything they are knocking the ball about better then last season with almost a new team who are also going to need a few games together

After so many promotions on the trot it was always going to be hard this season and not many expect promotion this year
They need to stay at this level and consolidate for a year or two and also get a ground

Once they have their own ground I think that will make a difference and at least be able to compete financially with the majority of clubs

Its going to be interesting to see what happens to some of the clubs that are being bankrolled this season as they all cant go up

Where are FC looking at building a ground and how will it be funded?

What will the capacity be? Fredthered reckons you're looking at about 10-12k average in the next 10 years or so, surely that's going to cost some money to build a stadium that big in Manchester.

They are looking at different sites all over the city and it looks like it will be funded with a percentage of money from the council and other fundings
As the idea is that the ground or buildings will be in use all week and not just on a match day with parts of the ground including doctors surgeries and an education centre etc and surrounding all weather pitches for use by the general public

Sounds like Leigh sports village, new 10k ground which will be shared by Leigh Centurions, Leigh RMI and Leigh Harriers athletic club.

http://www.leighsportsvillage.co.uk/index1.htm

Will it be something like that or will it be exclusivley FC Uniteds stadium?

Some kind of similar idea but I cant see it getting shared with any other clubs although it will be in use all week round

I think that they have looked at Curzons ground and seen the problems there with groundsharing

Tameside council have been desperate to get another football team to move in namely Ashton United but it seems they now don't want to and rumour has it that they have even asked FC to move in as well
Problem as as Curzon moved in first they have sorted out all the catering, club house, ground sponsorship etc meaning that if anyone was to move in they would be in the same situation that FC are now in at Bury and to most clubs at this level bar takings are one of the biggest money earners for clubs with them being open all week round and used as a social club for a lot of locals
Not only that Curzons ground is a nightmare to get to as well

lost away to BPA

Former FC United favourite Rory Patterson came back to haunt the Reds as Bradford Park Avenue’s summer signing scored both goals in a comprehensive 2-0 victory at the Horsfall Stadium.

An early screamer and a supremely taken second half goal from ‘The Man Formerly Known As The Man With No Name’ gave the home side all three points and take them into the top three of the UniBond Premier Division.

And to cap off a miserable Monday night against West Yorkshire’s money men, the Reds also had Chris Baguley sent off as the match reached an ill tempered finale.

Yet things had started off brightly for the Reds with Carlos Roca and Kyle Wilson carving out half-chances after good work down the right hand channels.

But it was Bradford who took the lead with a quarter of an hour gone. A short tap from a free-kick just outside the area allowed Patterson to pull the trigger and hit a thunderous shot into Ashton’s bottom right corner.

With another former United favourite Stuart Rudd working well alongside the impressive Chris Hall the Bradford frontline always had options and stretched the Reds defence throughout.

At the other end Wilson looked an increasingly lonely figure up front and a long range Chris Baguley free-kick was as close as the Reds came to an equalizer. United were fortunate not to go into the break two down after the linesman ruled out a rare Patterson header.

The game could have turned back in the Reds favour as early as the first minute of the second half though. Facing away from goal, Wilson was upended on the edge of the box but the striker’s very vocal protests for a penalty went unheard.

Dogged defending from David Chadwick continually kept the Reds in the game but there was little that ‘captain marvel’ could do to stop Bradford’s second goal. A clear break saw Patterson one-on-one with Ashton and the keeper could only watch on helplessly as the Irishman curled his finish into the corner.

Margy’s string of substitutions failed to ignite the Reds’ challenge and as tempers frayed the match descended into farce in the final minutes.

Following a scuffle in the middle of the park the referee made a complete meal of trying to clear up the mess. In the end the previously cautioned Chris Baguley proved to be the unlucky scapegoat; after receiving treatment the United midfielder was asked to leave the field of play, whilst waiting to come back on Chris received what he believed to be an indication to rejoin the play only to find himself shown a second yellow card and then a red.

Beaten on the night by two goals but I wouldn't say they were disgraced which a few people were expecting due to the big gulf in the money

Two well taken goals from Rory although the first shouldn't have been a free kick and one of the most definite penalties you will see turned down right in front of the ref who had a nightmare one of the worst I have ever seen

Chris Baguley went of injured only to be told by the linesman he could return back to the pitch then received his second yellow of the game by the ref for coming back on to the pitch without permission

An FC player shoved in the face right in front of the linesman and the ref only two yards away refusing to do anything about it

A BPA manager sticking two fingers up at the FC fans when they scored both times
lucky not to get lynched

They should aim for upper mid table and consolidate a season. Growth to fast is bad - but relegation is worse.

Back up to 10th

Played REALLY well on Saturday. Won 5-3 (2 of their goals scored in dying minutes when we were subbing new players on)

Reminds me of a conversation I had with my wife when the fixtures were announced

Went something like

The wife
"Where is Hednesford"

Me
"Why"

Wife
"Just wondering if thats where you are taking me for my birthday"

Me
"What are you on about"

Wife
"FC are playing away to Hednesford on my birthday so thought that is where you would be taking me"

Me
"Not my fault you would be so stupid to have your birthday on a Saturday when FC have a game"

Come on you Seasiders for the 25th!!
