Won 3-1 at Sheffield FC today. Swelteringly hot.

Was a great match. Friendly locals, nice ground, top pub next door... came out and saw United beat Spurs...

North Ferriby are in the Unibond Premier, Boothy, yeah.

They seem to be having quite a good season thus far, third in the league.

I've not seen a lot of either side if I'm going to be totally honest, but how do you think FC will fare in this one Ladybarnred? Confident?

We should beat 'em, but our seasons been reasonably poor up to now, so time will tell.

On our day FC can EASILY beat any team in the league, we're not firing on all cylinders yet, so it could go either way.

The biggest factor IMHO is that Ferriby is one of the best grounds in the league , it's early in the season, so it's not churned up and we can play it about on the ground, and it's a Saturday game (which we're always better at... players not just finished work) so I'm quietly confident.

Fair enough, and cheers for summing that up mate. Hopefully FC will find some more form then and manage to make it back to back cup wins. I found some very brief highlights of the Sheffield match on Youtube, and the penalty and third goal looked pretty neat. Good luck to FC anyway.

Won 1-0 at North Ferriby.
Are there two qualifying rounds left before the first round proper?

What are our prospects?

Stalybridge are in the Conference North, a league above. Is there much of a gap? (I notice that they are near the top and we are struggling).

Not as much as you'd think, the overlap between leagues is quite large.... but it will be a tough one.

I usually find international weekends boring (no United). This could be different.

I'd love FC to go through to the first round proper and get Leeds, away preferred, but home would still be interesting.

On the Saturday my country of birth, Bahrain, play the first leg against New Zealand. The winners go to South Africa. I was dreaming of playing England and Brazil but now I think I'd prefer Argentina with Hienze and Tevez as the South Americans. An upset would be so sweet.

Finished 3-3, FC took a 2-0 and then 3-1 lead, but were pegged back and will now go to a replay at Stalybridge on Tuesday.

The FA did a feature on it here: TheFA.com - Entertainment on and off the pitch

Great game. Great atmosphere. Should have won it, but I reckon they'll be knackered on Tuesday now and we'll get dicked... ever the optimist!

Northwich Vics away, they're a division higher.

What happens if FC win and the BBC rearrange the first round fixture and stick it on live TV at 5pm on a Sunday?

How would that sit with the values of the club?

My missus lives in Northwich and would of gone to watch had I not been on holiday.

The Curzon Ashton thing was because we were asked "Do you want to shift kick off time?" both clubs said "No" and they moved it anyway... so it depends on the circumstances.

My guess is it would be put to a members vote.

Its already been to a vote at the start of the second season the pros and cons were spelt out and it then went to a vote over entering the FA competitions

Crazy end to FC's cup run. The crowd on the pitch fighting with police. Now that WAS just like the 70s.

Match Report: FA Cup: Northwich Victoria 3-0 FC United of Manchester | Football | guardian.co.uk

Great effort by FC though, the Celtic replay in particular was gripping stuff. Was looking for a good pic of the FC end celebrating the goal with the flare but couldn't find one.

Great pictures, Mick! Nice to see that FC got through the other preliminary rounds with some top results, but playing Northwich Vic was always going to be tough I guess.

A pity FC United couldn't get to the 1st round of the FA Cup this year. It would have been amazing and a little surreal to see them live on ITV 1. Anyway congrats to Northwich Vics beating Charlton.
