FC United kickaround in St Mary's Park, Prestwich

Was approached tonight about a kick around in St Mary's Park on Bury New Road. Apparently it's running on Thursday evenings for ten weeks, given them my email address and they'll send details through. I'll post them when I get them.

With evenings getting longer again, FC United is unveiling its Back to Football Sessions.

These sessions are aimed at people who used to play football and gave it up for whatever reason - lack of time, lack of fitness, couldn’t face all the aggro at competitive matches etc. The idea is we get some people together for a regular kick about, get you out of breath, have a laugh and make new friends.

The sessions will take place on Thursday evenings at St. Mary’s Park in Prestwich starting at 6.30pm and finishing at 8 o’clock. The first session will be on 2nd April. The sessions are being organised by two of our community coaches, Sam Ashton and Phil Schofield and, yes, it is that Sam Ashton. The sessions are being publicised by the Bury Sports Development Team all around Prestwich so we are hoping that plenty of locals will show up, but it would be good to see a core of FC fans there to help get the sessions up and running.

FC fans are also very welcome at another drop-in session run by Karl Marginson which take place at Albert Park in Salford on Tuesdays from 12 noon until 3pm. These sessions have been very successful in attracting people from different communities. Albert Park has excellent facilities and more participants could easily be accommodated.
