FC United versus Blackpool Mechanics...

Whom we hate.

18 Feb 2006.

This game has been switched to Bloomfield road to let all the FC fans in...

Not only that the pleasure beach will be open offering all day wristbands for ten English pounds.

Beat that then.

Ticket details not announced yet but will be priced at £7...

Fights available from London and Dublin arrive saturday return sunday.

London £33 return all taxes paid.

Dublin €53 return all taxes paid.

Everyone seems to be staying the night.

Be there or be square.

Its a good idea to get in early

Quite a few B+Bs shut for the winter, but as I say there are a few that will be open, and with the pleasurebeach being open there will be a few more open than usual.

Well if you know any can you PM me as I have a few mates ( ahem) who are looking for a B+B to take over.

One of the supporters branches needs a B+B so if you know of any that might open up for them then that would be great.

about 20-25 people.

They are alright lads ( and lasses) and will be respectful to the owners, but naturally will be drinking heavily and doing what fans do on long weekends.

Can I take it we can look forward to your company on the 18/2.

Its going to be a cracking weekend. ( and I need someone to hold my candyfloss whilst I go on the big one.)

Blackpool Mechanics (NWCFL 2) on 18-02-2006 at 15:00
Venue: Blackpool FC, Seasiders Way, Blackpool FY1 6JJ

Ticket prices:
Adults: £7
Under 16: £4
Under 10: £2
Senior citizens: £5
Wheelchair disabled: £5 (there are good facilities for disabled and carers)

Purchase of tickets:
Blackpool FC are arranging the distribution of tickets.
The ticket office can be telephoned on 0870 443 1953. Credit /debit cards are accepted
Alternatively write to them enclosing cheque or postal order, enclosing a SAE, or add £1 for postage.
The ticket office will remain open until one hour before kick off, but we are warned by the Club and the Police that purchase of tickets in advance is very much preferred, to prevent a bottleneck.

Programme:
Blackpool Mechanics will be producing a decent programme @£2 which they hope will be a good read and represent value for money.

Seating:
Blackpool FC is currently undergoing rebuilding. Two stands are complete: The Mortensen Stand is behind the North goal (equivalent to our MRE) and will be wholly allocated to us. The Matthews Stand runs the length of the West side of the ground- as did Matthews himself- and half of this will be ours. Seating is unreserved, and interchange between the two is possible.
Both stands have bars, tv, and food bars underneath. The East Stand is uncovered and will not be in use. The south Stand doesn't exist yet.

Location:
The ground is very easy to find. From the end of the M55, continue briefly along a dual carriageway to a major roundabout and take second exit onto Yeadon Way, which is the main tourist route into Blackpool. After a series of mini roundabouts, you enter the biggest car and coach park in Europe, with the ground on the right. For rail travellers, BFC is about half a mile from Blackpool South, and although Blackpool North is farther away, at about a mile and a quarter, there are more trains to that one. Blackpool Airport is at the Southern end of the town, approx 2 miles away. The Pleasure Beach is one mile away-and it's open that weekend, with reduced rates.

Accommodation:
The ground is close to the centre of Blackpool, with the seafront only 500 yards away. Running parallel to the Promenade, between there and the ground, is Lytham Road, which passes close to South Station, and contains many Pubs and cafes.
For fans staying over, Blackpool Mechanics have spoken to the Tourist Office, and they will happily send out free visitor guides - call them on 01253 478222. You can obtain details of hotels of all kinds, and also of the many clubs in the Town Centre. You might also try the website blackpoolhotelpages.com - They will quote you a wide range of accommodation, and offer a discount if you mention this game. The roads linking The Prom and Lytham Rd contain literally hundreds of small hotels, most with bars.

Bloomfield is a really good ground considering where they team are in the football league. I've been there loads of times. For those driving there is masses of parking right next to the ground.

One thing to note is that many of the clubs in Blackpool can be a bit poncy about who they let in. They generally won't let people in with Jeans and/ or trainers on. There is a dodgy rock club just round the corner from the multi-storey car park near the train station that a bit shitty but can be a good laugh if there's a good group of you. They let anyone in

This is going to be the piss up of all piss ups.

Meet up Friday night, get a good FC singalong going. Saturday am, pleasure beach and maybe try to get a 500 a side going on the beach.

Then off the the Old Bridge Pub near the ground where we will watch Big United kick fuck out of the murderers, followed by the game, then back to the pub where we will get completely hammered, and raise the roof off the joint.

Sunday spent relaxing in the pub, using what is left of our voices to finish off a superb weekend.

Mancester boy, if you are really stuck for somewhere to put your head down for the night let me know and I will see about getting you a floorspace in one of our rooms.

This is naughty. From the newbies - Koffi annam:

Here's the thing - I laugh at your anti-Glazer protests simply because they're so laughable. You have no actual idea of how to get rid of Glazer. You don't, fredthered doesn't - none of you do. Fredthered posts pictures of some very amateurish graffiti and hails it as some kind of victory! You tell us that we should all be prepared to go to prison for the cause and that we're all too busy playing Championship Manager to care. But nothing is actually changing! You can rant and rave all you want, graffiti every inch of Old Trafford and shout at every Champ Man player until your lungs bleed - but you're not going to have the slightest bit of impact on anyone that actually has the power to control what's happening. So until you realise this I'll continue to laugh at your pathetic attempts to feel important by drawing attention to silly little campaigns that are never going to happen.
