Giggs FC United Comments To Be Investigated

Manchester United are launching an investigation into a Ryan Giggs interview published in a Russian magazine.

The Sunday Mirror says United have launched an investigation into remarks alleged to have been made by Giggs which suggested the Welsh winger wants to play for FC United, the nonleague club founded by fans in protest at Malcolm Glazer's takeover.

Russian mag Total Football reported Giggs saying: "I can't imagine playing for another club. But I can name one - FC United.

"This club is very close to me, as many of the supporters who formed it have supported me throughout my career. My brother plays there. If fate calls me to leave Man United, I would only play for this team."

When United officials were told about the interview, they asked Giggs for an explanation. He insisted he had not done the interview and the club are looking into the matter.

Why wouldnt he.

His brother played for them, and its no different to Paul Scholes wanting to play for Oldham in the latter years of his career, or Keane wanting to play for Celtic.

I thought it was Bury the Ginger Ninja wanted to play for?

What can the club do? Sack him? He has more than enough money to piss off and play for FC for nowt. Good on him for having some balls to be besides those who have adored him (if indeed he said it)

Sorry Fred, I couldn't EVER see Giggsy saying that....even if he wanted to play for FC United.
It just isn't his style.

I wasn't saying he wouldn't play for FC but I very much doubt he said anything at all.

There is a big difference in Keane wanting to play for the top Scottish club and Giggs playing for non-league FC United

Why is this news? Does it matter if Giggs plays for FC when he's 36?

His brother doesn't play there either.

It would be fun to see him there for a season after her retired from the top flight mind.

Wouldn't that be a great tradition if players who would otherwise retire or earn few quid they didn't need from shit clubs because they don't know what else to do simply went to FC for a while?

Why does it matter? Other players say where they would like to play later on. Becks once said he'd play in the USA and United didn't investigate. Why now? This story is a load of shit.

I think most people seem to think that what was said was taken out of context
most of the Russians that I have spoken to about it also think the same

The bloke likes the idea of FC ( hes not the only one ).

According to the interview, United are investigating because Gigg's claimed he never did the interview.

Nowt to do with saying he wants to play for FC.

Why such a reaction ?!?!?

All he supposedly said was that if he had to leave OT, he only go to FC United. Nothing wrong with that in my eyes. Good on the lad.

Sunday Mirror

Why would the club care whether Giggs would want to play for FC at the end of his career?
