Plenty of eyes are on County as one of the standard-bearers for the Supporters Direct movement, which aims to deliver football clubs into the hands of their fans and communities, or at least gain that support a voice in the running of the club.

Supporters now own or operate 14 clubs in England, including league clubs Stockport, Bournemouth, Brentford and Chesterfield, and non-league phenomenon FC United, and predict that many more will follow.

Stockport will slash ticket prices on two sides of the ground and for children.

"We realised straight away that we were over-priced," said Beverley. "But you can't boil the ocean, and have to keep money for Jim's budget. We will have a family section where an adult and two children can come and watch for less than £20, and kids will be able to get in for £5."

Good on them...

Nice ground they have too. If they pull it off they will make more money for the club through more people being able to go than they would by hiking the prices up.

Run up huge debts, struggle to repay them, then charge the fans more to cover the debts. If they moan get all the other fans to tell them they are just whinging bastards and not loyal to the cause.

Now THAT is the way forward.

Depends which club you talk about. Charge a club like Brentford's fans £30 quid a ticket and you're talking empty seats.

At United, you can pretty much charge what you want and still attract £70k + fans weekly.

Unfortunately, this is a sad truth.
