My FC United Debut

Taken from another forum
Quote:
My FC United Debut.

Obviously it is well documented by many of the lads off here but as a former big critic of the whole set up and a staunchly anti FC man a couple of years ago I thought I would tell you what I thought about the whole thing.

Now first of all if you look back far enough on this forum you will see me slagging FC fans to fuck, telling them to fuck off, calling them Judas etc etc. My opinion first started to thaw a little when I stumbled across some of their fans returning from some hovel in Lancashire. I had been to Bolton for something, I forget what but it just so happened that as I got on the train to come home it was packed with football fans. I'm thinking "Oh great here we go" not sure who they were and then I realised it was FC fans and I probably thought 'wankers' Anyway between Bolton and Manchester I heard United songs that I hadn't heard for years, I saw 40 and 50 year old men passionately singing about United, not FC United but Manchester United, I'll be honest I thawed out on that train that day.

From there listening to the FC lads on here and the usual complete common sense they talk has made a further impact. And so we come to todays game.

Up at 09:00 bit of breakfast and we're off to Piccadilly for the 10:37 to Buxton. My son still not really knowing where we're going "Is it like the young ones again dad?" A reference to the youth team who we have been to watch several times, and it's hard as fuck to explain who the hell we're going to watch and I'm saying "no, it's like little United" to which he replies "So it is the young players then?" "Erm, no and stop asking questions" Bustingup.gif

Piccadilly on a Saturday always fucks me off and today was no different. It fucks me off because there are always some complete no mark fuckers from some backward little place swanning around like extras out of Green Street. Today was no different, I'm not certain who they were but it was full of chavvy little cunts with bags of Stella and a bumpkin accent

Anyway platform 13 is quite impressive with I estimate 70 or 80 people waiting for the train and it pulled in with quite a lot of FC on it already, at this point I have to say nobody can tell me that this is not like going to any other away game, it had the same buzz, all like minded waiting to get on the train and invade a different town.

50 minutes or so later and we're at Buxton, Derbyshire Police are waiting making it feel even more like a normal away game and I need to go and find the Vault pub cause I know they're selling tickets in there.

I find the pub without too much trouble and buy one adult and one junior for £12 which has got to be good. The Vault was disappointingly empty except for a few old women drinking coffe and 4 fucking Liverpool fans all in shirts, cunts were going to the game as well cause I was listening to their conversation. I asked the landlord if we were alright for a drink with me having the kid and he says 'no problem' so I settled down for a pint. A few FC fans drift in and I soon realised that Uniteds national appeal is also an FC thing as there are no manc accents except for mine, I'd guess at Chesterfield with quite a bit of 'ey up' sort of things being said, they were also talking about their experiences in Moscow so these lads obviously do both as well.

After about an hour I have had a couple of pints and as much 'eye spy' as I can stand so we go for a walk across the market ground to the Kings Head, I was aware of the mongs to my left in that other bar as we walked across, this place was obviously the Buxton pub as they seemed to get a little excited as my 9 year old with his United shirt and scarf on walked past. There is a heavy Police presence in the town centre though (by the way did anyone see that blonde pw? bananasex.gif )

Into the Kings Head which was busy with FC fans, my son liked it in here cause the Pool table was empty. Couple more pints and a few games of pool later and the young fella wants something to eat so says "Can we go back to that Vault dad? They were selling Cheese burgers" So off we go, half way across the market ground I can see it's hammered with FC outside and a lot of Police, It's been closed and it's about just after 2pm I think.

Chippy across the road so we go there and eat outside at some tables they had. Just as we're finishing the mong Buxton fans have started to walk about twenty handed towards the ground, I couldn't for one minute imagine there would be any problems with them so we just stroll down to the ground behind them, time is about twenty to three. These Buxton lads are singing Buxton songs, one runs past me and my lad and shouts "Buxton" right down my ear the cunt then carries on running to catch the others up, I shout "Wanker"

Couldn't believe what happened next really, a handful of FC are walking up on the other side of the road and this bunch of fucking mongs start giving it a big "Munich" chant, 4 or 5 fellas well into their forties, a couple of women, 4 or 5 17 to 18 year olds but this is where my hat comes off to them they were not having it and the older fellas flew at them, Police were on it very quickly and FC reinforcements were on scene very quickly as well, this Buxton lot badly needed the Police now as more and more FC swarmed round, it seems to be compulsory to be a big bald headed cunt to follow FC and these lads wont be easily bullied I'll guarentee anybody that.

It's impossible for the adrenlin not to be pumping under those conditions, somebody said they were Stockport lads, personally I have no idea. I do know their bottle went, I would have guessed they were City symapthisers, in fact I did at first and thats what I told my lad but in the ground they were singing "Are you city in disguise" so I'm guessing not. Anyway into the ground and I'm not the best at estimating but I would hazard a guess that there was around 900 FC fans in there. The atmosphere wasn't as good as I thought it would be to be honest, sorry FC lads but from all the clips I have seen it seemed better than that, maybe it wasn't as good as usual today but that annoying little bunch of Buxton behind the goal gave as good as they got atmosphere wise in my opinion.

It really picked up in the last 10 minutes though and was very loud towards the end of the game.

The game itself? Surprisingly very enjoyable, 1st half flew by and my son never asked for his Nintendo DS thing which is pretty amazing for him. I thought FC were the better side in the 1st half and should have gone in at least 1 up. We watched it right against the wall about level with the Buxton penatly area. For the 2nd half we went round behind the Buxton goalies net. My lad loved it round there, the fact that he could reach and touch the netting seemed to really please him, kids eh? He loved the foul language and abuse being hurled at the Buxton goalie and that stupid whhhoooooaaaa you fat bastard thing that happened when he was taking a kick. He was getting called a big eared cunt and all sorts much to the delight of my young un.

Somebody shouted to him "Oi keeper you any good?" And he shouted back "Shit Hot"
I'd like to see it again but it looked very much like he should have had the goal and he got loads for saying he was 'shit hot' "You sure you didn't just mean shit you big eared cunt" And that was about that, a deserved win for FC, I was impressed with the number 9 and also the centre half (Chaddy is it?) I also thought the Buxton number 2 was a good player.

Final Whistle and out we go into the town centre for the walk back to the train station. I saw a lot of the FC going in a boozer in the town centre and the young lads that had been well up for it before the game hanging round on the main street, I walked past them going to Woolworths for a drink and they were talking about where the Buxton could be, fair play to them for only 4 or 5 young lads.

Wanted to go into the boozer really I could hear songs coming out the windows but sometimes you just got to be a dad and so the half five train home for us.

I'm not ready to give up United yet and I would never miss a United game in favour of an FC game. It is surprising though how I actually really wanted them to win, you honestly cannot go and say "This is nothing to do with United" You're surrounded by hundreds of reds singing countless United songs.

Before anybody criticises them too much remember these lads are being treated as United fans wherever they go, cunts giving it Munich etc and these lads are fighting for United when they react to that, nobodies saying "We're not United leave us alone"

Two train tickets, two match tickets, 5 pints for me and 5 cokes for him, two chippy dinners, all for £50.

My son has already asked me if we can go again, and we will definitely. For any fathers out there I would say its a great way to spend the day with your kid, he now wants to move to Buxton cause he thinks its really nice round there and everyone has got a dog. The only downside was that when we got home and his mam is asking himm if he had a good day he says "Yeah it was dead good mam, there was a bit of trouble with these wankers though" She's give it "I beg your pardon" And he says "they were wankers though, dad shouted it to one of them" Yeah cheers son, I'll never hear the end of that.

I'd advise anyone that hasn't tried it to give it a go.

Good article that. Is it common for FC fans to get a lot of the 'Munich' shit? I've only been to a few FC games and none of them had much of an opposition crowd there (didn't hear any of that crap myself).

Interesting to hear a new perspective on FC though.

Itching to go to be honest.

I could usually scrounge a ticket for Old Trafford but being on the dole has put a nail in that coffin for now.

Depends where it is. On the outskirts of Leeds and Stoke we've had a few knob-heads but generally most people are REALLY sound and dead friendly. And even it's a bit hostile, it's usually just local ASBOs out to cause trouble. It basically boils down to if the locals mentality is;

a) You're United fans who've come to watch non-league football... fair play to you and welcome

or

b) You're United fans, so you can fcuk off you Munich bastards.

99.99% of people are (a)

Fair play and well written. My mate had a stint playing for Curzon Ashton against FC United, that is the only time I have ever watched them. I was of the same opinion, they were there, but it wasn't exactly electric in terms of atmosphere to be honest. I think when they first formed they were taking 2-3k to away games, now thats impressive. Obvious now it is only the loyal that still attend.

That's good then. You're always bound to get a few knobheads at any game, but it sounds from what you've said that it's a real minority. I guess there's enough people around who resent United and enough that enjoy a scrap that it'll happen here and there.

I know it sounds daft but I was more surprised hearing about it happening at Buxton than I would at Bolton or Stoke - there seems to be something more parochial and friendly about the smaller clubs, but it can happen anywhere really.

Stoke fans at Buxton, you mean?

Stoke have a real contingent of disgusting fans supporting them though, so I'm not surprised if they gave it all that.
