ridiculous name for a football club (you realise still more when you see it written in full)- how did they end up at that name? serious question I have often wondered how something so contrived came about..? was that somethng to do with letting the fans decide too?

the original name was meant to be FC United ( which was used as a working title when the club was being formed) but the FA refused to register that name as they said it was too generic |

Taking away the issue of the neck, it's nice to see Admiral back assosiated with football.
What I do like about the shirt is how it feels some what retro, with the stripes being very much like the old Admiral away shirts of the late 70's. |

Agreed, I like it, though I think the design got a bit messed when they did the neck. But still, it's a nice shirt, and it is good to see Admiral on the shirt. Might be adding that to Christmas list I think

As for the price would have thought that was about average for a football shirt |

As for the price, well yes, for a high end sports wear company's super fibre neon nylon space suit sweat absorbing life vest football shirt. For a lower league shirt I'd expect it to be cheaper. |

I dont think you will find many cheaper just taken the first three teams in the same league (alphabetical order) all three are charging higher for their shirts |

It's competitive for sure, but still a shame for me. Given the ethos of clubs like FC. Not their fault of course, but a club purposefully trying to be removed from MUFC (TM), and specifically their business, corporate approach, charging about the same for their kit is a niggly annoyance surely?
Personally I've steered clear of buying lower league shirts ever since I ordered a Boston United Kit for my dad's birthday 6 years ago, for a similarly ridiculous amount of money, despite it being more professionally (forgive the word) produced than this one (they were in League 2 at the time), only to never receive it since Steve Evans, the then manager, had embroiled the club in several dodgy "financial irregularities" which i can only assume also involved fleecing people ordering off the clubs website, leading to them being docked several points and eventually relegated ...I believe they played FC last year....I also firmly believe this was Karma for a) charging me so much and b) never delivering it to me... So, be warned....My power in the spiritual realm is vast! |

You could fit a racehorse through the neckline in that shirt!!
Also really got to agree with Mockney about the pricing of the shirt. For a club with the ethos of FCUofM to charge more or less the same as a top flight club for whats essentially a second rate product is a bit rich. I know that a lot of it is down to the shirt manufacturer, but surely a better deal could have been struck than that!! |

I entered a design too but it was a bit more complicated than the three or four which were shortlisted.
The actual design on paper wasn't too bad but Admiral have done a shocking job of producing the actual shirt. How they mad such a mess of a simple crew neck I'll never know. I don't think there is any problem with the pricing - they are charging less the amount as I paid for my first United shirt back in the early 90s. All profits go straight back into to the club too. Should they be expected to sell them at cost value? Any photos of the new away kit anywhere? |

That's just the original computer generated design that people voted on though. I'd have thought they'd have replaced that image with an actual photo of the shirt by now, so we can see whether Admiral have managed to make a balls-up of it like the last one or not.

got mine and my kid's away shirt yesterday and bugger me... it's really nice. My missus doesn't like it because she say's it's too "scouse" but the cut and material is really good. Proof they can make shirts that aren't shit if they try.

Anyway, I'd buy one of those away shirts if not for the fact I'd feel a fraud if I wore it. I have never been to an FC match even though I have supported the idea of the club since it was founded and always looked out for the results, read the match reports and stuff. For the majority of the club's existance I lived 100 miles away from Bury, I only moved back to Manchester last winter. So, slightly OT, do you think that I'd be percieved as a bit of a Johnny-come-lately if I turned up to a game or two next season? Is it welcoming or insular? I get the impression it can be a bit of both at FC when I read their forum. |

Turn up to as many or whenever you want and it would be no problem as for the forum dont worry about that a few too many internet warriors on there Same idiots going on a bout the away shirt granted it may look like a scouse away of recent years but the same ones wont remember or even have the sense to work out United were wearing almost the same shirt many years ago |

I don't think the forum gives a bad impression and all the posters on there seem like decent types. My real trouble is that none of my football following mates are into going to FC. Going on my own to my first match just feels a bit of a bad idea.
