I admit to going a little over the top and you are correct in stating that the rises had already been approved, but it is reasonable to assume that further rises are in the offing considering our now huge debt. But as I say I'm pissed off with PL football anyway and am already priced out of OT, FC has been a saviour for me, football I can afford and enjoy.

Doesn't matter wether it's reserves or first team it's still a PL club and I am not supporting that anymore. Football has moved a long way since I entered the scene, winning was not the most important thing it was being there that counted, having a laugh and a good sing song in the Stretford end before chasing the opposition round Trafford Park after the game. Now going to OT is like being admitted to hospital, sit down, wash your mouth out, sit down, shut your trap, no thanks you and sky can keep it, me I'll go to Gigg Lane with some fans who do know what they want and have at least got the balls to stick up for it.

well said... I'm 30-odd and there is definately a generational gap where 90's fans....

a) expect success like a spoilt child

b) think watching football on TV makes you a "fan"

c) think getting drunk and singing and having a laugh is beneath them (a class thing?)

d) think me and those like me with 30 years match going under our belts are "traitors" for sticking to our (possibly misguided) principles and watching FC.

and I can't help but think all 4 are related.

Well since you're putting notches on your belt let me notch mine
I'm not Manchester born nor have I lived within 100 miles of OT but I.ve supported them YES really supported them for nearly 50 years
and been to OT or away probably more time than most fans have had hot dinners and its cost me a bloody fortune to do so and I;ll continue to support them in the future even if it costs me another fortune and I won't try to be imagine myself superior to United fans who through circumstances are unable to do a pilgrimage to OT but continue with an allegiance to MU and not look for soft options

For me a United supporter is a United supporter full stop - he doesn't need an accident of birth or the money or good luck to visit OT to be a fan but just a belief that Manchester United is the only club in the world to support and that for most of us is sufficient EVEN if its support is only from the TV

If you want to support FCUM fine and most of us have no problems with that

but please don't trot out threadbare excuses about atmosphere, cost, Glazer etc to justify you leaving

you don't like the OT scene fine BUT IMO

United supporters stay with United those that don't and have gone down a path they've chosen I don't bear them any grudges and wish them pleasure and enjoyment in their choice

except when they slag off those fans that continue to support the only team in the world worth supporting

topper you're making the same mistake as I did. You're judging FC without actually experiencing it from yourself. If you look at some of these threads you will see I was calling FC "traitors" etc...

I don't think there is anyone who has abandoned United, just refuse to pay Glazer. The worst thing is the 'fans' who start to go on. Laker202 is a perfect example in the newbies. Calling me and fredthered traitors. But it was like, well im 16, regularly go to FC AND United and also manage a handful of reserve games. Fredthered who has been going regularly for donkeys years, and travels from Birmingham every week !

Then you ask...if we're going to try and out-united one another...what exactly have these fans done for our club ?

The majority have never been to OT. I don't have a problem woth this, but to then come and call us traitors for going is ludicrous.

As I said the game has changed, even you must realise that, it's no fun anymore, it's over priced and is now just a money machine. I have been on the brink for a long time hoping things might change, clinging on and even when I was priced out I was still a member, giving my little bit to United, I still love United but I will not put in anymore cash. I was on the verge of leaving football altogether then along came FC, I read the hype and heard the stories coming out of Gigg Lane but I was not convinced. On the 22nd of October I went to my first game, in the pub I met an amazing set of fans, it was like the clock had been turned back 30 years what was even more amazing was the recollections of fans about their love of United, at last I had found somebody who echoed my thoughts exactly. When I returned home my wife could see the sparkle in my eyes she sensed my excitement and was already planning my next trip, unfortunately she passed away on the 24th of October. I still love United, always will but FC has given me football once again, the football that I like. We all have different views and we will all do whatever we wish, and none of us are wrong, we are all right, lets keep it like that, no arguing just respect each other.

MB I don't need to stick my hand on a fire to know its going to hurt and I don't need to go to FCUM to get the rush I need - seeing United at OT or better away gives me all the rush I need

To put it simply after getting used to drinking Champagne all these years to drop to to drinking Pepsi doesn't appeal to me.

Some people may like Pepsi and thats their choice me I'll stay with the REAL THING in spite of Glazer or whoever comes after him

Well fair play to you for saying that. I've made a difficult decission about going OT and I've never slagged off people who stayed at OT or can't be bothered to try FC. I only wish everyone who slags off FC could do the same for me.
