Question
I'm a founder member of FC (donated £50 to help get thinigs started) but I didn't really follow any of the season.... where does that put me in the grand scheme of things.... living down south... I'm unlikely to get to any games, yet I found the whole idea of FC intriguing and want to see were it goes, so i will be renewing my membership next season.
Does that make me an unwanted out of towner... or is my interest welcome? |

WELCOME !!!! Its more than welcome..... I assure you.. Forget all the bullshit you used to have to go through at OT about being an OOT or a JCL, or anything like that. You are part of the FC family regardless of where you are, how many games you go to, if at all. FC United is for ANY United supporter regardless and not one person is ever more welcome than anyone else. We have people in New Zealand, America, Norway. THey dont go to the games but they are an acitve part of FC. ANd the same applies to you. Never EVER think you wont be made welcome at FC UNited. If your a friend of Manchester United, then your a friend of ours. |

The only reason that most of FCs support is from Manchester is the same reason most of Uniteds used to be....They're a local team.
No-one gives a shit where you're from at FC. The only reason anyone has given a shit at United in the last few seasons is because local kids can't afford to go and sometimes you feel like "token Manc" in your own club/town. Before that no-one cared. |

Ok, thanks to you all for clearing that up for me.
I must admit, I was a little wary about how I'd be recieved if I ever do manage to turn up to a game. Like I said before, the whole idea of the club seems right to me, and I'm sure for those who are really close to it and go every week, there must be a real sense of excitement and adventure, (and freedom?) about the whole ride. I'll always be a Manchester United fan first I guess, but I am pleased I have contributed to the FC venture as well and will continue to do so. I must say, I find the idea of wearing an FC shirt in my home town a more attractive prospect than anything but a retro United shirt, cos OOT or not I've never been comfortable being lumped in with the JCL brigade who have never set foot in Manchester. |

The people have been superb, not just to me, but to my wife and especially my little lad who now is as much an FC United fan as I am. And I know what you mean about the shirt. When people stop me and ask what top I am wearing I just feel so proud to tell them its an FC United top and the positive feedback you get from it is amazing. I cant even imagine how many people have said how they fully understand and have nothing but praise for what FC United has done. So forget your worries. Get on the FC Train and enjoy it. If you havent done so already get yourself registered with the FC United forum. On a matchday you can join what we call the F5 brigade... You'll get to know people and what is going on. When you do want to go to games just give us a nod and someone willl arrange to meet up with you and introduce you to a few faces. |

Been a United fan since i was about 8, (1983), my first attended game was 1987 versus Southampton at the dell when I wore my united shirt in the Southampton end underneath a jumper that my dad wouldn't let me remove for fear that we'd be thrown out. Sadly for him I was unable to contain myself as Norman Whiteside made it 2-2 and i ran down the front of the stand cheering my head off and we got a few 'looks' from the home fans after that. The stupidity of youth eh? |
