Question for FC-ers

Don't know if it's been answered before - apologies if so! It's a fairly hypothetical question so no "it'll never happen" answers please - it's not entirely beyond the realms of possibiliy...

I'm just wondering how most FC fans feel about what would happen if a "best-case-scenario" panned out at United - ie significant fan control, an end to debt & spiralling ticket prices etc.

I presume there is a split in opinion?

Certainly I know plenty of occasional FC goers who still go to UNited too and wouldn't really have any choice to make.

But for those who have long since given up going near OT, and follow FC home and away - is the switch permanent? Or could you be tempted back?

If you would come back, and if you are in the majority, then what would the future of FCUM hold? Would there be any reason to go on, or may they just fold?

Any thoughts welcome!

United will never be cheap, family friendly or loud again, so I'm guessing FC will continue to exist

Whilst I despise Glazer I'd say irrespective of the owners for me...

Realistically if tickets came down to say £10 in line with the Bundeslegia. You could pay on the gate instead of arsing around for spares and you had standing, I'd be happy. This would allow local kids/lads to queue up get in the ground, have a laugh, get the atmosphere going and stop "once-in-a-lifetime" day trippers from cluttering the place up. Basically go back in time 15+ years

If that happened I can see me doing 50/50 FC/United.

Despite all the anti-Glazer protests I went to in 2005 the single biggest reason I gave up a season ticket of 20 years was... I didn't enjoy it anymore.

Since no one element of the above will ever happen I'll do FC/United on the TV or a freebie.

Please can someone explain the best scenario?

Well a season ticket at Preston has cost me £15 per game. Unfortunately OT is like you say some kind of pilgrimage.

Certainly part of the trouble started when the FA took over the top division.

Problem is speak to different people you will get different answers
Personally to me it would be a case of the Glazers gone and whoever comes in has some sort of fans representation on the board
Can not really see the day when the prices drop down to a more affordable level unless there is some kind of revolution in football

Yeah I know. I've spent the season watching Preston at home and the loyalty of some away supporters is unbelievable - Newcastle (wearing poxy yellow) filled their allocation on a monday evening in november and all the local car parks.

I certainly agree with the idea of supporter representation.

If United get sold, I hope we'll return to a standard board structure with a chairman and chief exec. Some organisation would have to elect someone as a fan representative - MUST?

Was left deliberately vague - the idea being that it meant the opposite of all the factors that drove people away (and to FCUM) in the first place.

Fair point. I wondered whether it looked like a silly question ...
