Academy vs Crewe

No thread yet, no-one watching?

0-0 at half-time, not a great game, the swirling wind is seeing to that.

United line-up:

1. Conor Devlin
2. Kenny Strickland
3. Oliver Gill
4. Reece Brown
5. Scott Wootton
6. Oliver Norwood (c)
7. Chris Curran
8. Ryan Tunnicliffe
9. Anton Bryan
10. Nicky Ajose
11. Cameron Stewart

1-0 to Crewe in the 53rd minute, well worked by them but some very sloppy defending to leave the goalscorer open and unmarked at the far post.

Sloppy best describes the whole performance I have to say, United easily the better side but the final ball has been sorely lacking and possession has been given away far too easily.

Macheda and Brandao on for Bryan and Stewart with 64 minutes gone.

2-0 Crewe on 68 mins, some hesitant and, frankly, woeful defending from Gill let their right-back get to the byline with all the time in the world to pick out a teammate to tap in, which he duly does.

Crewe defending well and hitting on the break, they've done it very well but it's not been a good performance from United.

Macheda pulls a goal back in the 89th minute after a great ball from Tunnicliffe, probably too late.

2-1 full-time. Disappointing result and performance.

Ahh... annoying result. Great to see Tunnicliffe starting though. How was he? Is James injured?

Not sure where James was, missed the start of the game so didn't hear an explanation. Tunnicliffe was probably one of the better players, covered lots of ground, got into the box very well. His final ball or shot was lacking a bit apart from the pass for Macheda's goal which was perfect.

Watched the 2nd half and it was disappointing, there didn't seem to be any fluency. Nice to see Macheda score another very well taken goal.

Matty has a chipped bone in his foot but it is not serious and he should be back next week.

Josh King returns to training on Monday and Magnus Eikrem was only suffering from a deadleg against Wigan last Thursday and should be OK for next week.

Joe Dudgeon is nearing fitness again and should be ready to return to action soon.

Think he's been called up to the Italian Under 19's though I am not too sure.
